If you ask me which book is my favorite, I’ll try not to answer your question. Frankly it feels like you’re asking me to choose a favorite child. An impossible task!
There are elements of each book that make it unique.
This week I’ve received the new covers for my three Ohio WWII romances, and so my thoughts have focused on them and my new legal suspense series.
There’s something special about a book that’s genesis occurred in a museum exhibit in London that I almost walked by. There’s something special about a story that starts with the wedding rather than ends with it. And there’s something heart-capturing about a story where the heroine shares my darkest moment. A Promise Kept is all of those.
With Beyond Justice my friends are noting the similarities between Hayden and me – and they are numerous. But Josie in A Promise Kept also has a lot of me in her. She’s ready for marriage, but the reality is different and more than she expected. Then she’s hit with a grief that leaves her feeling like her body has turned on her. And it’s a grief that she largely has to carry on her own. Art just can’t enter it with her.
Then there’s Kat. Kat is Josie’s spunky younger sister. She’s 17 and thinks she’s ready for all that life has for her. Then in A Promise Forged she’s on her own for the summer as a professional ball player in the All American Girls Professional Softball League. It was so fun to write her, and I had my oldest in mind as I wrote her. My girl is almost Kat’s age now, and there’s so much fight and commitment in her that’s just like Kat. It’s what I envisioned when I wrote the book several years ago, and it’s fun to watch that come true with my girl.
I could keep going talking about my heroines and why they have pieces of me or women I know in them, but instead I’m going to enjoy these covers and celebrate with another book giveaway. Have I mentioned how much I love giving them away?
What’s your favorite cover on a book? I’d love to know what caught your eye.

If I had a trip that I was taking and could read on it, I would take The Ringmaster’s Wife or Everyone Brave is Forgiven.
My current favorite cover on a book is Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand. I like how the coats and hats are positioned to look like it is a couple embracing. It makes me look twice.
Oh! Love Kristy’s books!
Not sure what I will be reading next time I travel but will definitely be taking my Kindle. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Kindles are great for traveling.
I am on a trip and I’ve got Kellie Coats Gilbert’s newest book, Sisters, with me.
I really enjoy her books.
I am going to be taking a few books on my next trip. As for what ones…I have no idea!!!
It’s usually a last minute decision for me — and whether it’s a keeper or a book I can leave.
Your covers a lovely, Cara! They definitely have that 1940’s feel, yet the colors are soft and feminine and very romance-y. So pretty!
I have been thrilled with them, Karen. Jenny has done an amazing job.
One of my favorite covers is Becky Wade’s Meant to be Mine. You can’t help but smile when you see it.
It is so pretty! I adore it.
On my next trip, I plan on taking When We Last Spoke by Marci Henna.
That sounds fun.
My favorite cover at the moment has to be A Twist of Faith by Pepper Basham. It’s such a fun cover and I smile every time I look at it.
She made that one. Isn’t it fun? I think she did a great job!
I’m not sure which book I’m taking. There are so many I want to read!!
My TBR pile just grew again yesterday.
I don’t have a trip planned in the near future but if I was leaving today, it would be Summer on Sunset Ridge by Sharlene MacLaren which I began reading last night.
Oh! I have enjoyed Sharlene’s books that I’ve ready.
I love A Note Yet Unsung. The dress is amazing!
That dress is drool worthy! I would love one just like it!
I would take Deep Shadows and Raging Storm by Vannetta Chapman. We are going to Florida on vacation so these will be packed in my purse.
Vanetta’s books are so good!
Very pretty! I love Elizabeth Musser’s book covers and the elements from the story arranged there. I don’t have a trip coming up any time soon, but if I did, I’d be taking A Portrait of Emily Price by Katherine Reay or Kristy Cambron’s newest book, The Illusionist’s Apprentice, or anything new from Dee Henderson. I just finished Traces of Guilt by Dee, but the other two are in my reading queue.
Those are some great covers.
I love the yellow & cream book cover with the daisy. Two of my favorite things. #1 thing is chocolate!
I love it, too!
I’m not sure when I’ll be taking another trip, so it will depend on what I’ve got available at the time. I do a lot of read/review for authors, so it would probably be one of those. Right now I’m reading Just the Way You Are by Pepper Basham and The Message in a Bottle by Amanda Dykes, Heather Gilbert, Maureen Lang, Joanne Bischof, and Heather Green. I’m loving both of them.
I love both books, and I’m not sure I could pick a favorite. One thing I’ve enjoyed about your books is that I feel like I get to know you a little more each time. When something is really well-written, I suspect it came from the author’s life. You have those moments come through with every one of your heroine characters. It always touches me deeply.
Beautiful Covers! My eye went more towards the pink. Maybe because It’s my favorite color. 😉 But I don’t mind a hot hero on a cover. 🙂
I am currently reading The Message in a Bottle. I love the old bottle with what looks like a parchment beside it. The sea and the cliffs just add to the mystery of the bottle.
I’m going to my parents for a week and I’m taking A Secret Courage by Tricia Goyer, Home by Ginny L Yttrup, and Witch by Denise Weimer.
Books are the way I travel. I haven’t been on a trip is a few years.
I haven’t gone on a trip for years and don’t plan on one for quite some time. I will take whatever I am reading at the time plus a spare or two and probably a kindle. Can’t have too much reading material.
