A Few Of My Favorite Things, Too

January 9, 2018 By Julie Klassen

Yes, I’m completely stealing this blog idea from Deborah Raney’s post yesterday (which has already cost me some expensive online shopping, I can tell you. 🙂 ) I have a first draft due to my publisher in less than a week, so I’m all for a fun and easy post idea!

Here are a few of my favorite things in the personal care department:

Smartwool Socks

When you live in frigid Minnesota, you need warm, comfy socks! Smartwool socks are expensive, but I watch for sales online at places like Sierra Trading Post. You’ll thank me later.

STILA Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

This liner is so fine and precise, that even I can use it and not mess up! Plus it wears well. I like it in alloy (gray) or dark brown for everyday, while midnight and indigo are fun for special occasions.

DHC Eye Bright

Have you heard of DHC? Deb posted that she likes their Velvet Skin Coat and I do, too! I also like that they include 4 free samples with each order. Their Eye Bright is a recent favorite. When I remember to dab on some of this depuffing gel before bed, my eyes look less puffy and tired in the morning. It “fights dryness and dark circles with caffeine.” I completely relate to needing caffeine to wake up in the morning, too.

Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Complexion Corrector, Light/Medium

I have Rosacea, enlarged pores, you name it. This helps with all of that fun stuff plus has anti-anging benefits and sunscreen. Sign me up.

Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder

In all my years of buying way too many beauty products, I have still not found a powder I like better. Not cheap, but worth it.

Maybelline Brow Precise Micro Eyebrow Pencil, Blonde

Another “fun” side effect of growing older are thinning eyebrows. I like this precise (yet inexpensive) pencil with a blending end for subtle fill in.

KENRA PROFESSIONAL Platinum Dry Texture Spray 6

I don’t usually spend money on high-end hair products, but a stylist recently used this on me and I was hooked. I love the extra volume it gives my hair.

Butler Giant Pet T Hand Roller

And now for something completely different. I use this every. single. day. When you have two cats, you can’t go anywhere without first running this bad boy over yourself to remove pet hair—especially if you wear black. No more cheap little drugstore rollers for me. This big one is a lifesaver.

There you have it. A few of my favorite things. Do you use any of them? Anything you’d like to recommend? P.S. I am still looking for the perfect under eye concealer if you have one to suggest!

Love your list TOO, Julie! Wish I’d known about that hand roller back when we had our kitty! Thanks, Becky for starting this idea! It’s been fun! 🙂

I agree. Love seeing other people’s favorite “girl stuff.” 🙂

You have those Smart Wool socks right. I hate wool next to my skin but not these socks. This winter they are great!
Good list. I may end up shopping too.

Good to know you share my love of Smartwool, Jen!

Okay, Julie, you and Deb are making me do some online window shopping while I have a deadline looming. I love the DHC products but haven’t ordered from them in a while. Hmmmm. Might reconsider that.

I have a blog coming up. I might have to list some of my favorite things. This is fun!

Sorry to spur you to online shopping, Lenora. 🙂 But I’ll look forward to seeing your list, too.

I use Peter Thomas cream as well. We escape the Florida heat and go to Colorado in the winter so I will definitely have to check online for those Smartwool socks.

It’s good stuff, isn’t it? Yes, definitely find yourself some Smartwool socks for your Colorado winter, Janella.

Smartwool socks sound intriguing! But… I live in Australia! Never even heard about them until now. Will research the socks though.

Loved your post on hair spray. I ordered some from Amazon. And I fell in love with it also
