I was surprised and touched to receive an amazing gift from a talented quilter-friend: a quilt based on the coverlet Jane Austen made with her mother and sister.

The original coverlet quilt is on display at Jane Austen’s House Museum, which we visited during a group tour I was privileged to host in 2019. We saw the quilt (and much more) during the visit and I am honored and delighted to now have this beautiful replica.

Here is a close-up view of the Austens’ quilt:

Since it is so much fun to give as well as to receive, I’d like to give away a small gift. Bryan and Vicki gave me charming Microfiber Lens Cloths featuring Jane’s Coverlet and I would like to share one with someone who admires Jane Austen, too.

If that’s you, leave a comment with your email address (use the (at) and (dot) format, e.g. julie(at)julieklassen(dot)com). Thank you!

My comment is that your quilt is even prettier than Jane Austin’s!💐
The quilt you received was definitely made with lots of love💕 So beautiful and soft warm tones. Love all things Jane Austen, and introducing my 2 teenage daughters to regency writing too! ktd404@aol.com
The colours are so ‘earthy’. I feel drawn to it’s warmth!
I love the quilt! Bookworm6901(at)gmail(dot)com
Love that time period. Seems like a more gentle and peaceful time. The quilt is a work of art. Would love to win the matching microfiber cloth. Thanks for the opportunity. Linda

Beautiful quilt.
I love quilts! We have one my MIL made for us many many years ago. The Jane Austen quilt is glorious, and so is your replica!!
Emails should be visible to you on this platform without the commenter having to post it. I’m okay not being entered in the drawing otherwise.
What a beautiful quilt to admire and keep you warm.
I also visited Jane Austen’s House Museum a few years ago, as I love Jane Austen (I just finished watching the latest movie version of Emma!). Now I am living so far away in Minnesota, USA, I am thrilled when I see any Austen news/information to make me feel I at home in England again. Beautiful quilt.
What a beautiful quilt and keepsake! Wow. Love it. I admire people who can create such works of art. angelecolline(at)yahoo(dot)com
I love the quilt, beautiful and a wonderful keepsake.
I love anything Jane Austen and never tire of reading her books or others about her, what a treasure for us to enjoy especially through the winter months.
Simply beautiful. Just like one from my beloved Ohio Amish country.
Absolutely love it. brandi(underscore)benavides(at)yahoo(dot)com

And thank you for the giveaway opportunity! I am a Jane Austen fan & am blind as a bat without my glasses or contacts, so I love the idea of a Jane Austen inspired lens cloth! Very cute. Thanks again for sharing!

What lovely, skilled craftsmanship on both quilts! I would love to be able to create something both beautiful and useful, but I can’t even sew on a button, unfortunately. Jane Austen is a treasured favorite of mine–especially Emma and Persuasion–and I also love your books, too, Julie–The Silent Governess is my favorite. Thank you for the opportunity to win! lfallon320(at)gmail(dot)com
Both quilts are lovely! I so wanted to go on that trip with your group. Will you be doing one again once the pandemic is finally over?

I was 16 when I watched Pride and Prejudice (BBC 1995). I loved it! I read the book and was amazed that it could still mesmerize me considering it was over 200 years old. I’ve been following all productions of Jane Austens work. I visited the museum in Bath. There was a time I loved to go back in time and wish I could live in Jane Austens era. But a bbc documentary made me realize that woman had not much freedom and there were very strict ways to behave. I could not do that today. I love your books Julie. I often read them in 2 or 3 days and I love it that you take me back in time.
I forgot to mention that I’m a photographer. So a lens cloth would be fantastic! I cannot have enough of those 🙂
Regency England is my favorite, and I’m a Jane Austen fan! The quilt is gorgeous. Sad I never made it there when I was in England. I’ve been to other Austen sites but not that one. fuegonissen(at)hotmail(dot)com
I love Jane Austen, what a unique gift! Hethas1(at)yahoo (dot)com
The lectures I’ve heard on English paper piecing method used in the quilt made by Jane Austen and her family have been fascinating! How wonderful you have admirers willing to put their loving talents into creating a replica for you! Here’s a writeup of the full-scale facsimile quilt made by members of Chicago’s Jane Austen Society of North America for their 1988 JASNA Annual General Meeting.https://www.jasnachicago.org/about/history-greater-chicago-region
What a lovely token! I love anything Jane Austen. princessziomara(at)yahoo(dot)(com)
Oh my word! I am EVERYTHING JANE AUSTEN! I love this quilt, I want the microfiber cloth even if I have to find out where to purchase it from. 🙂 I eat sleep and drink Jane Austen. It was actually by happenstance while reading one of the Jane Austen posts someone made that mentioned you and your books, so basically I am one of your avid fan/followers because of Jane Austen. 🙂 I read all of your books Julie. 🙂 No matter if I win or not, I am always going to be in your fan club and continuing to read that next book. When I was reading the Ivy Hill Christmas and Arabella Awdry was basically telling Richard Brockwell no to a proposal, I noticed that she did it Jane Austen style. 🙂 I LOVED THAT PART!
I love the quilt. What a neat gift.
What a beautiful quilt! (Both of them!!) mallori(dot)norris(at)gmail(dot)com
that quilt is lovely. Are you going to do those trips again once we are clear? would love to do that. jcook22@yahoo.com
That’s so lovely & as I do wear 👓 glasses & love Jane, that would be a welcome treat. Thanks for the opportunity. ♡
Love Jane Austen and quilts…both are colorful, classic, and collectible!

I enjoy reading Jane Austen’s books! The events that happen in her books are still relevant in today’s world. The characters are relatable. The quilt is beautiful!!
I always loved Jane Austin! I read and watch anything marketed for Jane Austin “fans?” thanks for the pictures! Really enjoyed seeing this.
