Life has been a little crazy since my last post. We have been on the road a good bit, mostly business for my husband with me tagging along. But I’ve been busy working as well in the pockets of time I have free. Working and reading, actually.
But lest I give the impression our life is all work lately, I thought I’d share a hodgepodge of other things we’ve been doing lately.
A couple of weeks ago we had a baby shower for our granddaughter. She’s due April 29, so we’ll see if she makes an appearance in April or makes us all wait until May! We had so much fun celebrating baby girl (yes, we know it’s a girl; no, they haven’t decided definitively on a name!) and being with family and friends. I especially enjoyed having all my kiddos together again!
Then I met my best friend for our biannual 24 hours of togetherness. After spending years living near each other then right next door (on purpose, mind you!), we now live three hours apart. So each fall and spring, coinciding with our birthdays, we meet halfway, stay in a hotel, and spend almost the entire 24 hours catching up. It is always a wonderful time, even when what we have to catch up on isn’t entirely wonderful. Good friends make everything better.
After that, my husband and I were off to Phoenix, where he had a couple of different business meetings. But it is March, which means baseball. Spring training baseball. Maybe my husband’s favorite kind of baseball, because it is more intimate and relaxed than the regular season games. I confess, I enjoy baseball, too. But I am more of a fair-weather fan. Literally! I enjoy being at a game, but only if it’s 75 degrees and sunny—and if my seats are near the action and in the shade. (I might be a bit high-maintenance in this regard!) Anyway, all the criteria were met and we enjoyed two games in beautiful weather, one of which involved our favorite team, the Texas Rangers. (Who won that day. Hurrah!)
And so we are finally home. Hubby will do an occasional quick trip without me, but our travel schedule is essentially clear as we wait for our son to tell us baby girl is on her way. Then we’ll hop in the car or on a plane and get there as quick as we can!
So lots of random craziness, but good times, too. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll have a much more cohesive string of thoughts for you!
Have you been up to anything fun/exciting/unusual lately? Please share!

I can relate to your semi-annual birthday gatherings with your best friend. I have two friends–all three of us used to work together at the same school–with whom I get together twice a year for a girls’ weekend. Since the one lives alone in a house with several bedrooms, the other two of us drive the several hours to her house and stay there for a long weekend twice a year. The rest of the year we stay in touch through emails and phone calls.

That is awesome, Suzanne! And how wonderful that you can do it at her house, too. Very fun!

Yes remodeling a spare bedroom into a office. It is beautiful and now the decorating part starts. Shopping for a small chair to sit and read is needed. I know what I want but did not find it yet.

Ugh. Remodeling is hard. And searching for the decor you have in your head is hard, too! I hope you enjoy the hunt. 🙂

My hubby would be quite jealous of you D’Ann. 🙂 He loves the Rangers and misses spring training. He took our youngest to Arizona for spring training three years ago and is dying to go back even though the small hotel they stayed in was right next to the railroad tracks with trains running throughout the night.
And big congrats on the upcoming grandbaby. Such a joyous occasion!

Spring Training, I’m convinced, is the true baseball fan’s happy place. I think my hubby would spend the entire month of March in Arizona if he could. 🙂
