A Reading Challenge

January 2, 2018 By Tamera Alexander

Happy New Year, friends!

I’m currently hidden away writing, working to finish another book. But I wanted to share a reading challenge with you.

A challenge to read through the Word of God this year.

My daughter and I have committed to do this together, and I’m so excited. I’m involved in BSF and daily Bible study, but it’s been a handful of years since I’ve done a reading plan. And it’s time!

Kelsey and I are using YouVersion. Check out the reading plans HERE.

So while I pray that 2018 is a wonderful year for you, full of joy and happiness—and bacon. LOTS OF BACON! : )

Most of all, I pray it’s a year of…

Because that’s what this brief life here is all about. And I’m so grateful we get to do this journey together!

Why not text a friend or family member today and invite them to read with you? It’s a great excuse to get together for lunch every so often and share what God is revealing. To you both!

Much love to you…and Happy 2018!

Tamera

It’s interesting you posted this. My middle son (27 yo) and husband are also doing a YouVersion plan! I haven’t read the Bible through in several years, either,

Love it, Karen! Blessings as we read “together” this year!

Which of the plans are you choosing? I have never read thru the Bible. I always get bogged down in the Old Testament!

We’re doing one of the plans that has you in the OT and the NT. Those are my favs! Yesterday was GEN 1 & 2 and MT 1. Let me know which one you decide on, Bonnie!

I think I have chosen the same plan you are doing! I love the devotional thoughts. I am in BSF also! Thanks.

Yay, Bonnie! Let’s check in with each other throughout the year and encourage each other in this, k? Both in our daily reading and in BSF. (Love that we’re BSF buddies!)

This sounds like a great plan. I’m doing a different plan right now, but I hope I remember this one for when it’s that time again! Blessings on you and your daughter as you do this. Special!

Thanks, Angie! Being consistently in the Word really does make such a difference, doesn’t it? But I need that accountability. That’s why I also love BSF so much. The accountability from loving sisters to be faithful in my walk with Christ is such a blessing!

Last year I participated in a read the Bible through in one year programme at our church. I completed the challenge . I have actually read the Bible through many times and at least three times I’ve read it through in one year. I think that though I will read the Bible every day and participate in Bible studies through out the year, that I will not try reading it through in 2018. Thanks for the invite however.

I’ve taken years off from reading through in one year, too, Shirley. Either intentionally or just because I fell behind and then fell out. But those were also rich years! So…good for you! Praying for all that our gracious God is going to show you (and me) through His Spirit and Word this year. Much love and glad you’re here!

Just catching up on emails….I am doing a Bible plan on YouVersion put together by Wayne Cadeiro. Last year I did through-the-year plan that gave Sundays off, but then I was sometimes overwhelmed by the length of daily readings that made up for that day off. Because I am experiencing vision problems, I really appreciate the option to listen to the Word (currently listening to the Message version.) I also love doing the short devotionals, some with videos, that are offered on YouVersion.

Thanks for sharing, Lisa! I really appreciate listening to the Word too. Blessings to you as you grow in grace and truth. I’m praying the same for me too.
