Hey friends!
I’m just back from Atlanta where I spent some time with my Dad, bless him. Love that man so much.
Dad’s had numerous TIAs (mini strokes) in recent weeks, and they’ve taken a toll on him physically. Yet he’s still the same sweet, kindhearted man he’s always been. Albeit, at 85, he’s growing a tad weary of what accompanies aging (these earthly bodies aren’t made to last forever, after all), and we spent quite a bit of time talking about heaven and all that awaits.
In light of our conversations—and the challenges he’s having with his physical health—we especially appreciated revisiting these verses:
“For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. We grow weary in our present bodies [do I hear an AMEN?!!], and we long to put on our heavenly bodies like new clothing. For we will put on heavenly bodies; we will not be spirits without bodies.
While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. God himself has prepared us for this, and as a guarantee he has given us his Holy Spirit.”
II Corinthians 5:1-5
- Swallowed up by life!
- God himself has prepared us for this!
- And he’s guaranteed that future through the power of His Holy Spirit.
Oh, I just love that. What hope we have. For believers in Christ, the best truly is yet to come!
Speaking of the best . . .
After that wonderful (and all too short) visit with my dad, I returned to discover that several of my fabulous To Wager Her Heart Street Team members had received their ARCs (advance reader copies) of To Wager Her Heart—and had posted pictures of them beginning to read Sy and Alexandra’s story!
I SO APPRECIATE MY STREET TEAM!
One of them is with her sweet mom in the hospital and is reading during quiet moments (praying for your mom, Liz)…
And another (hugs to you, Gail!) has already made the delicious Chocolate Chess Pie that’s featured in the novel . . .

(Nope, it’s not Keto. But all you Low Carb Gluten Free lifestylers like me can find a great alternative here. Just leave out the peppermint!)
Speaking of street teams…
If you applied to be part of the To Wager Her Heart Street Team and weren’t chosen, please know that another chance is coming around soon! Because I have another book releasing in October. I’ll be putting out the call on Facebook for that in coming weeks.
Until then . . .
To Wager Her Heart, the third and final book in the Belle Meade Plantation series, releases August 8th. But you can start reading now, if you’d like:

I was delighted to win a copy of To Wager Her Heart from Goodreads. I received it last week so I already read it and fell in love with Sy. I admired him and Alexandra so much. It is a wonderful conclusion to this fantastic series. I haven’t made the pie yet but plan to do so. It’s just too hot in Kansas right now to turn on the oven. I’m glad you were able to spend time with your dad. My dad is 88 so we’ve had some discussions of life beyond this too. It’s hard but so thankful for heaven and the assurance of being together again.

Amen to being thankful for heaven, Pam, and the solid assurance we have in Christ. Thanks so much for the kind words about To Wager Her Heart, too! Blessings, friend!
