Earlier this week, a friend shared a Dennis Prager video about The Key to Unhappiness. It’s short, under 5 minutes, and very worth watching. But I’ll give you the “key” in a nutshell.
Ungrateful people are unhappy people.
Grateful people are happy people.
And I believe that is very, very true.
A number of years ago, I heard a blessing that resonated in my heart, and I immediately wrote it down. I did a search to try to discover the author. It seems it is a traditional Catholic prayer of thanksgiving and that the author is unknown. It is both simple and profound, and so I share it with you in honor of Thanksgiving Day.
For food in a world where many walk in hunger…
For faith in a world where many walk in fear…
For friends in a world where many walk alone…
We give You thanks, O Lord. Amen
Let us be a grateful people, truly thankful to God for all that we have. If we are, then we will also be a happier people.
May you have a blessed Thanksgiving, my friends.
