Our Community Group from church decided to forgo the traditional White Elephant gift exchange this year and make way for . . . wigs!
Yep, we had a wig exchange. The rules? Whatever wig you opened, you had to wear the rest of the party! There is such a wide range of cheap, funny wigs on Amazon—and we had no two alike. We had everything from dreadlocks to K-pop stars to 18th-century-style wigs.
We laughed so much!
Here are a few of the pictures.

I love these people so much. We can transition from eating and laughing to sharing our highs and lows, answered prayers, and lessons learned from 2025—while still wearing our ridiculous wigs!
What I loved the most about hearing everyone’s answers was that we walked through them together. No one had a “surprise” low or high that the rest of us didn’t know about. Mostly the same with answered prayer, too. We all got to rejoice in those because we’d all had a part in praying for them!
Jeff and I have been part of many small groups in various churches throughout our 38 years of marriage. Small groups aren’t always easy. In fact, only three really stand out in my mind, and this is one of them. I can’t say what makes or breaks a group. Our last great one was made up of several couples, all close to the same age and in the same stage—empty nesters (except for the one couple, where the guy was our age, but he became a first-time father!) Our current group and another good one were a variety of ages. This one has some singles mixed in with married, too. All I know is that these people know me. I don’t have to be anyone different than who I am with them. And they love me anyway, as I do them.
Have you ever had one of those small groups at church that just gelled? What did you enjoy most about that group?

Oh my word. This looks so fun! I have been blessed with a couple of great small groups. One was in my twenties – our group stuck together even as we all moved throughout the area, fresh out of college and new to navigating the world of adulthood. Another was more recently – It was a range of ages, married and singles, all women. We came together and it was as if we’d been together for years right from the start. I still keep in touch with that group of ladies.
Those sound like great groups, Joy! I love that you still keep in touch even though those “groups” no longer exist!
Love this! Looks like a fun time for everyone. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! Yes, it was so fun!
Oh this looks like a blast! I’m currently looking for a church and it’s been struggle. I long for a connection like the one you have and have been praying God will prepare folks to come along me in my faith walk, and that I can do the same for them.
I’m sorry you have struggled to find this, Amy. I’ve been in that place, too.
Lord, please bring Amy to a group of believers that will fold her in and give her true community.
Hilarious!! What a fun idea!
It was such a great idea! One of our ladies saw it on Instagram.
