I saw a meme the other day about the challenges of “sheltering in place” that stated, “I’m even missing the people I don’t like!” That gave me a chuckle.
How are you, friends? How are you doing in this reduced bubble of life?
I pray you’re well and that our country (and world as a whole) is swiftly approaching a “reopening” and that together we’ll face the new normal—whatever that turns out to be—with courage and optimism. Because we know with full assurance that Jesus is in control. (Can I get an amen?!)
In honor of “sheltering in place,” last week a group of author buddies and I each did a reading from one of our novels, and I thought I’d share mine with you today. I hope it brings a smile. Especially when you see what Bailey (one of our dogs) did while I was recording said video! Ugh!!
My reading is from Colors of Truth, a Carnton novel (book 2) that releases July 7.
So what do you think? Other than I should have forewarned you about the bad Southern Irish accent!
I LOVED writing about Catriona and Nora, two wonderfully spirited and often-at-odds-with-each-other Irish sisters who know how to get the best of each other. And often do!
This same group of author buddies also recorded some quick and fun Q&A sessions about life during the time of the corona virus. You can view those videos on my YouTube channel:
So tell me…
How ARE you really doing? Have you ever been to Ireland? And if you have a pet, what is the last destructive thing they’ve done? (Notice, I didn’t ask IF they’ve ever done something destructive. With animals, that just seems to come with the territory! ; )
Much love from Nashville, friends,
Tamera

Here is rural Missouri, the lives of our family haven’t changed a great deal. As essential workers, my husband, myself, and oldest daughter (a chiropractor) are continuing to work. My youngest daughter who works as an SLP at a school in a neighboring town is working with her students/parents via ZOOM much like a big portion of our nation’s educational staff are doing. We aren’t what you call social butterflies so we aren’t in the habit of going and doing a lot. A once a month trip to the “city” which is about an hour away to Sam’s and Aldi – maybe JoAnn’s for me lol, with a once a weekly pop in to the local grocery store and Dollar General. The biggest thing we miss is attending church on Sundays!! We continue to have a bible study at home, but it is not the same as attending church. I know there are many, many people who are experiencing temporary loss of jobs and financial hardships and it will definitely take some time for our economy to recover, but I think that everyone taking a step back to enjoy their family, getting back to the way people used to be – cooking and eating meals together, playing games together, enjoying time together outdoors, etc. instead of being too busy with so many other activities (school related, sports, dance, work trips, etc.) that prohibit family time together is not such a bad thing. When I was growing up that’s exactly the way I spent my childhood and there were no stores open on Sundays whatsoever. It brings back many wonderful memories for me. I pray that they find a vaccine for COVID-19 soon. I find it odd that we send people to space, but in this day and age we cannot seem to find a cure or vaccine for a killing virus. Thank you for continuing to bring us wonderful books. Take care, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

Ripped two sofas down to the frame and stuffing…
Same treatment for a newly plastered and painted wall, not sure we want the industrial bare stone look.
But when I sprained my wrist last week, she brought me a vole.
Coincidence or compassion ?
Must include wonderful cats on the cover of my next e-book

We are sheltering in place here in Virginia Beach. I’m trying to clean out closets and drawers, working in my yard when it is not raining, and of course reading. Looking forward to your new book, Tammy. I have Irish heritage and like to read books set in Ireland or about Irish immigrants. One book I always enjoyed reading to my 5th grade students is A Family Apart by Joan Lowery Nixon. It is the first in a series about an Irish immigrant family in New York. Due to unfortunate circumstances the mother has to send her five children out west on the orphan train. After I read the first book, my students jumped to read the next stories about each child. Although geared for 4th – 7th grades, I find it can be enjoyed by adults.
Blessings to you and your family!

Hi Tamara, Your hair looks great pulled up! And I think you did a wonderful job with the Irish accents. I look forward to reading Colors of Truth.
My son and grandson just moved out of our house, so we’ve been cleaning and reclaiming our space! I’m also enjoying being out in the yard and gardening in our warm weather.

I visited Ireland as part of a 2 week tour of the UK and Ireland in 2016. It’s a lovely country, and I’m glad I went.
Look forward to reading your new novel this summer.
