Where Do You Find Your Recipes?

March 25, 2016 By Becky Wade

At best, I'm an adequate cook.  I can follow a recipe proficiently.  But I can't improvise and definitely can't create recipes of my own.  Also, I only enjoy making things like chocolate chip cookies.  Dinner preparation is not bliss for me.  Nor is eating what I cook.  I rarely eat one of my dinners and think, Yummy!  It's usually more like, Well, here's more healthy sustenance.  Since I cooked, … [Read more...]

A Gift From the Past

March 11, 2016 By Becky Wade

My parents live in California, where I was born and raised.  They come to Texas for frequent visits, however, and on one recent visit my dad gave me a savings bond that my Great Grandmother Monninger had given to me when I was little.  He'd filed it away for safekeeping alongside other documents and as the years -- then the decades -- slid past had forgotten about it.  When he came across it a few … [Read more...]

I traveled through France with my family when I was young.  Though I'd love to visit many places in Europe, I'd most … [Read more...]

January 22, 2016 By Becky Wade

When I was a mom of pre-schoolers I considered myself fairly physically active.  I made an effort to get to the gym 3-4 times a week and spent the rest of my waking hours carrying babies and chasing toddlers.  A year and a half ago, my baby started Kindergarten.  I wasn't a mom who was sniffling over this fact (unlike Celia in my Porter Family novel #2 Meant to Be Mine).  I was a mom who was … [Read more...]
