Christ Be Glorified

February 18, 2026 By D'Ann Mateer

Ash Wednesday. The beginning of our season of reflection and repentance as we move toward the celebration of Christ’s resurrection.  For this season, I’ve felt the Lord nudging me to meditate on what it means to be crucified with Christ. Why?  My life right now is a bit chaotic in several areas. I don’t like chaos. I like structure and schedule. But last Sunday at church, part of … [Read more...]

Hello, February!

February 4, 2026 By D'Ann Mateer

I love February for so many reasons.  1. It’s my birthday month! Yay! Not only does it mean celebrating with friends and family, it also means several birthday perks from my favorite stores. Did you know some loyalty programs give you a discount or even an amount of money off a purchase in your birthday month? Check out stores like Kohl’s, Belk, Talbots, Pottery Barn/William-Sonoma, DSW, … [Read more...]

Fort Worth Rodeo

January 21, 2026 By D'Ann Mateer

I haven’t been back to the rodeo in Fort Worth probably since when my kids were little. Or before they … [Read more...]

And frankly, I love a slower paced January after two months worth of holiday activities. I want to hunker down in my house, preferably in front of a fire, if the weather cooperates. I like time to organize, time to read. Time to gear up for spring, which is generally a busy … [Read more...]

A Wiggy Christmas

December 17, 2025 By D'Ann Mateer

Our Community Group from church decided to forgo the traditional White Elephant gift exchange this year and make way for . . . wigs!  Yep, we had a wig exchange. The rules? Whatever wig you opened, you had to wear the rest of the party! There is such a wide range of cheap, funny wigs on Amazon—and we had no two alike. We had everything from dreadlocks to K-pop stars to 18th-century-style … [Read more...]
