A Dedication . . . to My Father

June 19, 2015 By Jody Hedlund

I love reading the front part of a novel where an author dedicates the book to someone. It's always so touching to see the sweet words of love and appreciation. Most of the dedications are usually to family members, husbands, children, or parents. Sometimes authors will dedicate a book to an agent or a critique partner. Or sometimes the dedication will be more general to a group of people, like … [Read more...]

Let’s Party! (With Giveaways Galore!)

June 5, 2015 By Jody Hedlund

My oldest is graduating from high school this year. Where has the time gone!? Needless to say it's been a very busy few weeks not only in planning and preparing for his graduation party (which is this Sunday June 7th), but it's also been a busy time with going to graduation parties of all our friends who have graduating seniors. I'm thrilled that she's releasing her second published book! She's an awesome writer and excellent story-teller. So I highly … [Read more...]

But then the very next day I learned that Romantic Times had given the book 4 1/2 stars (the highest rating) along with a Top Pick for the month (which is a huge honor). The experience reminded me that life is a continual seesaw … [Read more...]

Has Self-Discipline Become an Antiquated Word?

April 17, 2015 By Jody Hedlund

My twin daughters (age 15) have gone without eating sweets for almost four months. In January they both made the resolution to eat healthier during 2015. They decided that one way they could do that was by cutting out desserts, candy, and any other sweet treats. While I applaud their decision, I haven't joined them in giving up sweets. At this point, I'm not feeling called to abandon my … [Read more...]
