A Romance Novel With All the Feels

September 17, 2021 By Jody Hedlund

I admit. I like a really good romance story full of LOTS of romantic moments filled with LOTS of toe-tingling, stomach-flipping sizzle. Those are the stories I’m drawn to READ. Those are also the stories I’m drawn to WRITE. However, as a writer of inspirational fiction I want my novels to remain clean and sweet (without any sex scenes). So how do I balance keeping a novel clean while … [Read more...]

Happy End of Summer!

September 3, 2021 By Jody Hedlund

In 2020, our family (like many of you) had to put big vacation plans on hold due to Covid. Instead, we did a couple of shorter trips. I’d hoped 2021 would allow us to move forward with a bigger vacation. But this year, my twins graduated from college. Being a Reader In Today’s Current Market

August 20, 2021 By Jody Hedlund

Today I’m taking off my author hat and putting on my reading cap! It’s over halfway through the year, and I decided to analyze how I’m doing on my reading progress for 2021. Somehow, I’ve managed to average about 50 books a year for the past 8 years (except last year in 2020 I only read about 30). As I took stock on where I’m at this year, I realized I’m on track with my 50-book average, in … [Read more...]

A Brand New Series

August 6, 2021 By Jody Hedlund

Whew! This week I wrapped up my editing on a brand new medieval series, Knights of Brethren. This is a six-book series, and the first two books release later this year. After the past month of intensive editing (I just love my editor!), now books 1 & 2 are with the proofer (and I love my proofer too!). After proofing, the books will head out to a select group of awesome first readers (who … [Read more...]

How to Overcome Writer’s Block When All Else Fails

July 16, 2021 By Jody Hedlund

I recently got an email from Emma who asked for advice on how to overcome writer’s block. She said: “I get writers block a bit, and I can never work on just one book at a time... I have to have many so that when I do get a slump on one, I can work on another. But I'd like to change that... Yet, everything I've tried doesn't really work that well.” Let me just say this upfront, Emma, you are … [Read more...]
