Deadline Day

August 15, 2019 By Karen Witemeyer

August 15 - Deadline Day. Since my first book contract, signed back in 2009, I have always had a book due on August 15. My own personal D-Day. It's a day I look forward to with both dread and excitement. It's a day that seems far off for most the year then races across the calendar at light speed once we get to about June. I am proud to say that I've never missed a deadline, but some … [Read more...]

Tea and Chocolate

August 1, 2019 By Karen Witemeyer

The two things that pair best with books, in my opinion, are tea and chocolate. Dark chocolate, in particular. And black tea sweetened with honey. Win a Book for a Friend

July 18, 2019 By Karen Witemeyer

Reading is usually a solitary endeavor. However, there is something special about sharing the experience with a friend. Being able to talk about favorite characters, debating plot twists, crying together over the sad moments, and celebrating the triumphs is a rare joy. Happy 4th of July!

July 4, 2019 By Karen Witemeyer

Second only to fireworks and flags, the things I most associate with the 4th of July holiday are cookouts and family. Burgers and dogs on the grill, homemade ice cream, cookies, apple pie. And biscuits. Honey-glazed biscuits, to be precise. Biscuits? That's not an item usually found at the family cookout. Perhaps not, but if a 19th century baker was given the opportunity to sponsor a 4th of … [Read more...]

The Strength of a Small Town

June 20, 2019 By Karen Witemeyer

Honey Grove, TX boasts a population of a little over 1600 people. What they lack in numbers, however, they more than make up for in community spirit. This became abundantly clear to me this past Saturday when they graciously hosted me for my official book launch of More Than Words Can Say. Honey Grove is the setting for Zach and Abby's story in More Than Words Can Say, and after finding a … [Read more...]
