I'm typing this in mid-October, and Hurricane Milton is still on every Floridian's mind . . . much the same as Hurricane Helene is still the talk of North Carolina. Helene hit us hard, too, but most of its damage was to the beach homes along the western coast. The recent rains and flooding have really destroyed our largest chicken coop. Hubby and I were trying to support the sagging structure a couple of weeks ago when two hens escaped.
