Be still and Know–Even when you’re on deadline

May 18, 2016 By Lenora Worth

Hello. It’s Hump Day. Since I’m on a tight deadline and I need the words to pour through me in record time, I’ll let my pictures do the talking. Prayer on that deadline need would be greatly appreciated. But even with a deadline looming, I have to take my own advice. I need to be still and know God will see me through. In the meantime, I thought I’d share some recent pictures I’ve taken in some of those Be Still moments. In case anyone reading this need a little mini-break, too.

I snapped this photo while attending a Kentucky Derby party held at a lovely home on the bay. The sun was setting over the water and I wanted to capture that. But I love the tree, too. A good old live oak to remind me to stay strong.

The one below was taken last Sunday afternoon in our current back yard. We lived on the bay for almost four years and now we’re about a mile away from the water. But I love this new yard as much as I loved having that big water right out my back door. God’s beauty is everywhere. We have birds singing to us all day long here and ospreys flying high in the sky. And we have beautiful sunsets and a wide open sky. We hope to make our “blank canvas” back yard into a tropical retreat. We have a nice porch and a little forest behind us to serve as a backdrop. I need Deb and Ken Raney to come and help me accomplish this!BlogIBLF2

I found this charming porch on the depositphotos.com site while searching for ideas for the book I’m working on. I love the little boy running along the porch since there is a two-year-old in my story. Who wouldn’t love a sunny, deep place such as this one to sit and read a good book. Can anyone tell me why we paint our porch ceilings light blue in the South. I know the answer, but do you?

And one last beautiful scene that soothes me when I’m frazzled. I took this one at the beach by a very long pier. I’ve always loved standing in the shade of the pier and seeing the symmetry of the sturdy pilings. It was a beautiful morning and we enjoyed our walk.BlogIBLF4

So what do you do to calm yourself when you’re spinning too many plates? What kind of Be Still moments have helped you through stressful or difficult times? I’d love to hear some of the ways you cope! I hope you’ve enjoyed some of my special places. And … let’s pray I make this deadline!

Praying and reading Gods word helps me. Thanks for the pictures. As for your question about the porch…Blue paint on a porch ceiling was used to ward off evil spirits. I just think they were all North Carolina Tar Heels!!!😉

You are correct!! Now we paint them to ward off pesky bugs. They think it’s the sky and they keep on going!! We hope!!

Loved these photos, Elnora – – thank you for sharing! 🙂
Prayers for your deadline to be met. And I must confess I long for the day when I can say I, too, am on deadline, LOL. (well, besides a self-imposed deadline). 😉
When my life gets too hectic, I make myself sit down and read some soothing Bible verses. I also pet my cats’ fur – – seriously! That has a very calming effect on me, especially when the kitties are purring. 🙂
    Hugs, Patti Jo

Thank you, Patti Jo. You are right about cats. My kitty Cujo used to hop onto my lap just when I needed her. I miss her but she’s in kitty heaven chasing butterflies.
And I always look to the Scriptures. Just the other day I was chewing on a decision and I asked God to show me the way. A perfect Scripture popped up on the music channel I was listening to. God’s timing!

Find a quiet place, close your eyes, and spend 10 minutes with easy breathing and repeating that God will see you through. “Be still” was a correct approach.

    Sending prayers your way.

Fine way of telling, and fastidious piece of writing to get data regarding my presentation topic,
which i am going to deliver in college.
