Beach Reads

May 12, 2021 By Dani Pettrey

Hi friends,

It’s no secret my favorite season is Summer, and my favorite place to be with my family is at the beach. Being so close to God’s majestic creation makes me feel both at home and a sense of awe and wonder. It stills my mind (which anyone who knows me can tell you that’s a miracle in and of itself) and quiets my soul. A sweet author friend has a beach house in the Outerbanks that we’ll be visiting multiple times this year, and I can’t wait.  Not only because this is the first year that I’ve scheduled my writing time around my vacations so I won’t be writing during vacation, but because it means lots of binge reading for me!

There are so many great books to choose from, but for our first trip, I’ll be bringing these two with me.

My friend and longtime prayer partner, Becky Wade, is always at the top of my beach read list.

The one woman he wants is the one he cannot have.

I’m loving Colleen’s Pelican Harbor series!

It all started with one little lie. But the gripping truth is finally coming out.

You can find both at your favorite retailer or hop over to my website www.danipettrey.com and sign up for my newsletter.

I’m running a Sun, Fun, and Books A Ton! Giveaway in my upcoming May newsletter, where I’ll be giving away some summer goodies and a handful of books including both Becky and Denise’s new releases.

Question for you: What books are on your summer reading list?

Blessings,

Dani

I HIGHLY recommend ALL of T.I. Lowe’s books in The Carolina Coast Series. Absolutely perfect for reading with sand between your toes (or anywhere else for that matter).

Sadly no beach time in sight for me so the porch will have to do. But that can’t stop me from reading. I’m always looking for new and interesting books. Thank you for the recommendations. Will book 3 of the Coastal Guardians be released some time this year? Have a great time at the beach and enjoy lots of binge reading!!

      Hi Coco,
The porch is always a wonderful place to read 🙂
I’ll be making an announcement in my May newsletter next week or the week after all about book 3 🙂

Thanks so much for mentioning Let It Be Me, Dani! I’ll be spending time traveling up the California coast this summer. I can’t wait for beach time. 🙂

Thank you for all the great selections! I couldn’t wait for summer so I stayed up late (12:30 am😉) last night finishing Becky Wade’s Let Be Me. Loved it!!! It will definitely make it into my beach bag for a second read. In addition to the excellent authors already mentioned here, I recommend adding any and all books by Katherine Reay and/or Kristen Heitzmann to your summer reads stash.

When Livia mentioned “dandelion” it reminded me of Dandelion Summer by Lisa Wingate. My husband even enjoyed it (on audiobook-when I later showed him the cover he told me I wouldn’t have convinced him to read it because it was “too girly” lol)

A Chicken Soup for the Soul book, the second & the third part of The Selection Series, Summer by Karen Kingsbury, Pride and Prejudice, & Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury 🙂 <3
