As an author there is something magical about that moment when one of my favorite people (the UPS man) drops off boxes. Regardless of what’s in the box, it feels like Christmas. What did I order and forget about? What new treasure awaits wrapped inside a nest of bubble wrap?
Then there’s the time when he drops off a couple boxes and I note a label that suggest it’s more than just another box. Instead, nestled inside the dead weight is a new book!
Even though I’ve spent months dreaming up an idea, waiting for a publisher to become as impassioned as I am, writing the story, editing said story, and oohing and aahing the first time I see the cover, there is something…magical…about holding a copy in my hands the first time.
Where Treetops Glisten is extra special to me because I dreamed up the general idea to do a collection of Christmas romance with what I called the WWII Dream Team. Then to my delight, Sarah Sundin and Tricia Goyer caught the vision and were just as excited about it as I was. Then Waterbrook caught the vision, and this beautiful book is the result. September 16 the book releases, but I couldn’t wait to share it with you! You can read a sneak peak of the prologue and first chapter here.
As you read this, it may be 90 degrees with 85% humidity, but within the covers of this book, it’s Christmas time. Bing Crosby is crooning that it’s a White Christmas, and burdened hearts are opening to love.
I’m so excited about this book that I’d love to giveaway a copy. Just enter the form below. And may all your Christmases be white!

Good morning, Cara, We’ve had a hot and humid summer here in central Maine, and I look forward to a break in the humidity; although I’m not looking forward to a long, cold Maine winter. I do look forward to reading Where Treetops Glisten, while I drink a cup of hot tea and while cuddled under a warm blanket though.
Blessings,
~Tammi

I didn’t add my favorite Christmas song into my last comment, I have two they are A Strange Way to Save the World and Mary Did You Know?.

Vera Godley says
So many beautiful Christmas carols. I always think of the Spiritual aspect of Christmas when the term Christmas Carol is used. However, there are so many Christmas songs or rather seasonal songs that create a warmth and happy feeling deep down inside. There are the old favorites Silent Night, I heard the Bells on Christmas Day, Hark the Herald Angels….. and then of course “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” is gut-wrenching. Of contemporary songs I think “Mary Did You Know” is super.
Cara Putman says
It’s almost an impossible question to answer, isn’t it. I think I love all of the ones you listed, Vera.

What a great giveaway and a book! It would be a perfect addition to my bookshelf!!
I love Christmas carols more than is humanly possible, but White Christmas by Bing Crosby will always be one of my favorites!!
Thanks for the giveaway!!
donnadurnell2013 says
I love Christmas carols. I don’t especially like singing them, because they’re usually not in a range I’m comfortable with – too low. Silent Night is always a favorite, as is First Noel, and O Come All Ye Faithful. Oh, and Mary Did You Know is a newer favorite.
Secular Christmas songs are so much fun – I did a pantomime of “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,” and The Chipmunk Song way back more than 50 years ago. Nowadays I like the BC Clark Jingle (an Oklahoma tradition), and “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas.”
But Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Bing Crosby and some of the other great singers doing “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas,” “Home for the Holidays,” “Little Drummer Boy,” “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas,” “Feliz Navidad,” and “Have Your Self A Merry Little Christmas” – and there are so many others as well.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas on this last day of August!
