It's almost Valentine's Day! Be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for information on the Valentine's Giveaway some author friends and I are offering. :) In mid-January, I received a lovely email from a reader/book club leader. Here it is (slightly abbreviated): Hi, Becky, I just finished reading My Stubborn Heart and loved it! Your characters are so real I believe they … [Read more...]
Celebrating 50 Years of Love & Giveaway
This weekend, my family flew to Orlando to join the rest of my clan for a celebration. My parents will celebrate fifty years together later this month. This is the clan on Saturday at Magic Kingdom. Mom and Dad are in the middle in the royal blue shirts, while the rest of us are clustered around. What started as two has grown to twenty-six, and all of us were able to come together for four days. … [Read more...]

Helpless
Our two-week vacation on Sanibel Island in Florida was wonderful—just the break I needed after finishing my latest novel and before starting the research process for the next. I sat in the departure lounge in the Fort Myers Airport with my husband on Saturday, thinking about all of the things I needed to do when I got home, including writing this blog. The inbound flight arrived, but we were told … [Read more...]

Your Feedback DOES Make a Difference
Like most authors, I get my fair share of emails (or Facebook messages) from readers. Most of the emails are positive and encouraging. I love hearing how God is at work in my stories to touch lives. The affirmation is truly a blessing (and I know my fellow authors here on this blog would agree!). Occasionally I get emails regarding typos. Thankfully my editors are pretty good and there … [Read more...]
Speaking in Libraries
I don't do a lot of speaking gigs during the year since I have a regular 8-5 day job, but when I get the chance to speak at a library, I'm eager to participate. Last month, I had the honor of speaking at a lovely small town library in Alvarado, TX. The Texas Writes group organized the event and brought me out along with a fun middle-grade author name Jeramey Kraatz who writes for Harper Collins. … [Read more...]

Ancestry Treasure Hunt
I've always been interested in genealogy in a distant sort of way. For example, I thoroughly enjoy watching the show Who Do You Think You Are? In each episode, a celebrity uncovers the stories, secrets, and history of their ancestors. My fondness for Who Do You Think You? inspired me to write a genealogist heroine. Bookish Nora Bradford, Genealogist Extraordinaire and Historical Village … [Read more...]
