Book Covers Come Alive

October 16, 2025 By Karen Witemeyer

A few months ago, I was scrolling through Facebook and found a book cover that moved. It felt like one of those Harry Potter newspapers where the images come to life. I thought it was super fun and decided I’d try my hand at making one.

At the time, my newest book was To Love a Beast, so I started with that one. I was really pleased with the bookish turn of page, even if she turned pages on both books. Ha!

Recently, I decided to try again using a different software program. The heroine decided to laugh a little too much, but it was still fun.

Now that I have a Christmas collection out, I thought I would give it a try again. I’m really pleased with the result.

What do you think? Do you like the covers coming to life?
Which is your favorite?

Bonus – Giveaway

I’m participating in a multi-author giveaway featuring some fabulous historical romance books. There will also be a bunch of Christmas goodies included in the grand prize package.

The moving book covers are so fun! What programs did you use to create them?

I used KlingAI for the first and third and Midjourney for the second one. KlingAI offers a free account which suits my occasional usage. Sometimes it takes a while to generate, but I just let it run in the background. I recently subscribed to Midjourney and am slowly learning how to use it. That was my first video attempt.

Thanks, Betty. I had fun playing with it. The computer doesn’t always give me exactly what I want, but it’s still fun. 🙂

I’ve been in love with moving book covers for a while now and am anxious to give it a try myself! Love all there of these, even with the 2-page turning thing. 😂

You think you’re giving clear instructions, but everything is open for interpretation. Ha! I’m just going with the story that she’s reading two books at once. 🙂

I think the Christmas collection would be my choice, though it would take a bit to get used to it.
