This is release week! Hooray! Zach and Abigail’s story is finally out in the wide world!
Abigail Kemp needs a man’s name on the deed to save her bakery. Zacharias Hamilton is finally free of his responsibilities as head of the Hamilton clan now that his adoptive siblings are wed, and he wants nothing more than to be left alone to focus on his own dreams for once. Yet the same reluctant drive to protect that stirred when the orphan train carrying him and his siblings derailed sixteen years ago, resurrects when Abigail approaches him with a crazy scheme to save her livelihood. Marriage is the last thing he wants, but it might just be exactly what he needs.
More Than Words Can Say is a story filled with flawed characters haunted by past mistakes and driven by their dedication to family. Love and laughter mix in this romantic romp containing crafty villains, interfering little sisters, and delectable sticky buns.

Book Launch in Honey Grove
For the first time ever, I am doing a book launch in the town where my story is set. I’m so excited!
When I first began searching for a setting for More Than Words Can Say, I simply looked for a place on the map that was relatively close to Pecan Gap, the town where More Than Meets the Eye was set. That’s when I discovered Honey Grove, Texas. Not only does this town have an adorable name and a rich history tracing all the way back to Davy Crockett, but the people living in the town today have done an admirable job preserving its history, providing a gold mine of research nuggets. I found dozens of historical photographs, newspaper articles, and civic records on their Preservation League’s website. The town truly came to life in my mind and on the page. I couldn’t think of a better place to launch this book.
Honey Grove is located about 90 miles northeast of Dallas, between Bonham and Paris. The festivities begin at 10:30. I will give a short presentation then be available to sell and autograph copies of More Than Words Can Say.
Not only that, but in keeping with my baking heroine, there will be a bake sale benefiting the library coinciding with the event. Yum!
In addition to the formal event, I am also offering extra activities for my most dedicated fans. At noon, I will lead (or fumble around until I find my way) a walking tour of Honey Grove, highlighting places that are mentioned in the book. I will provide a booklet containing historical tidbits and photos from the era for those who attend.
After the tour, I would love to join you for a barbecue lunch back at the library. Extra time to visit and chat is always a pleasure!
IMPORTANT – If you are planning to come to the launch, please fill out this Google Form. I need to know how many to expect for the walking tour, and our barbecue provider needs a headcount for lunch. If you plan to bring a group, only one person needs to complete the form. Simply tell me how many will be traveling with you.
Have you ever visited a town that was used as a setting for a novel?
Have you ever read a book that was set in a town you’ve lived in or near?
Do you like settings that are real places?

I wish I lived in Texas so I could attend your event. I loved More than Meets the Eye and have More than Words Can Say in audio format. I plan to listen on my vacation that begins today. I have never read a book set in a town I know. I think it would be very interesting, though, to see the historical version through an author’s eyes. Blessings on your gathering!

Thanks, Lynn. I haven’t really done much of a launch for the last several books, but once the Honey Grove Preservation League got on board for More Than Words Can Say, I started getting really excited about this one.

This sounds like a fabulous book launch party! I suddenly wish I lived in TX. I hope everyone able to attend has a wonderful time!
When I found out that the fictional town of Redbud, PA from Becky Wade’s My Stubborn Heart was inspired by the town of Lambertville, NJ I took a road trip to visit. I love visiting places where books are set (or that have inspired fictional towns). I’ve been to a few setting from Nicholas Sparks’ books as well. I enjoy traveling and reading so anytime I can connect the two, I know it’s bound to be a grand adventure! This summer I’ll be heading on a couple more bookish trips; one to the Wilmington NC area for Dani Pettrey’s The Killing Tide and Georgia for Becky Wade’s new upcoming series.

What a fun idea, Joy! I love that you create bookish getaways. I remember early in my writing career I was working on Head in the Clouds, and on the way back from a work conference, I took a detour to drive down a farm to market road out in the country where I had envisioned my hero’s sheep ranch to be. I drove the measured ten miles from town, then stopped and got out of the car to look around and take pictures. That’s when I saw them. Sheep! I couldn’t believe it. There were real sheep at my fiction sheep ranch location. That was one of those moments where I felt God smile on my writing. I’ll never forget it.

What fun! Wish I lived nearby! My brother recently moved from Bug Tussle, TX,😊 which is a few miles from Honey Grove! He lives near Paris, TX now, so I am familiar with the area. I love all the names of the little communities there! I wish you a wonderful launch and many blessings!
Karen Witemeyer says
Ha! I’ll have to be on the lookout for Bug Tussle. What a fun name!
