When I became a novelist there was a comment that I received often, but one I hadn’t expected.
“Wow,” readers would tell me. “This novel would make a great movie!”
That’s something a novelist likes to hear, but it carries about as much weight as when your son hits a home run for the first time. “Wow, your boy’s going to be in the Big Leagues,” spectators say. It’s a nice dream, but the reality of that happening is slim to none.
The thing I like about God is that He likes slim odds! With God all things are possible!
Over a year ago my friend Courtney from Women Living Well connect me with Amber Lia. Amber is an awesome blogger at Mother of Knights. Amber and her husband Guy are also founders and producers at Storehouse Media Group. They are amazing, talented people. We connected and started dreaming big together.
Currently, Guy and Amber are shopping around some (11!) of my novel ideas around Hollywood. While there are no guarantees that a movie will result in their efforts, they are getting great feedback! And they are working so, so hard to see it happen! (Which I appreciate!)
I’m blessed to work closely with these amazing people, and I was honored to visit their home when I was in LA in April. I truly consider them friends, and I’m praying for Guy and Amber’s efforts to bring quality, Christian movies to the television and big screen–not just mine.
Also when I was in LA, Guy, Amber and I were able to pitch to one of the executives at Hallmark. He seemed interested in our idea, so we’ll see what happens with that! (Hint, hint, please add to prayer list!) While seeing one of my novels made into a movie is still a dream, I’m so thankful to God for bringing this wonderful couple into my life who are working to see that happen. With them believing in me it feels as if the battle is already half won!
Your Turn: Do you like the idea of some of your favorite books being make into movies? I encourage you to pray for Guy and Amber Lia and others in Hollywood who are working hard to make this happen.
There is so much that needs to take place behind the scenes before a book is transformed to the big screen. Pray for all the Christian men and women who are involved in the process. Consider prayer YOUR part in helping God’s messages of hope to reacher a wider audience!
Hollywood may seem like a tough market to penetrate, but with God all things are possible! And your prayers are needed today!

How exciting!!!!! And yes, I would LOVE to see my favourite Christian fiction on the big screen. Mind you, that would be a lot of movies!!!! I am thrilled that there is even the potential. The entertainment industry definitely needs to include the millions of consumers who want quality, clean, inspiring entertainment! I wonder if there’s a writing campaign we can start or something like that? I’ll definitely pray that doors will continue to open.

Kav, money speaks in Hollywood (even more than writing letters). The more quality, clean and inspiring entertainment that we support with our pocketbooks, the more they’ll make!

That’s so exciting to have a chance at pitching your stories! I love it when my favorite novels get made into movies. You have a chance to reach a much wider audience through film, and people really need the kind of inspiring stories found in Christian fiction! I hope/pray you’ll get a bite on one (or more) of those ideas. 😀

I’m so excited for you and will definitely be praying! 🙂
I honestly cannot think of a book I would like to see become a movie, but that’s just me. I love to read and movies aren’t really my thing. My family is lucky if they can get me to sit down for a movie a couple times a month. I’m just not that into television. I am also a firm believer that the books are always better than the movie, though I have no proof of this, since I haven’t actually both read a book and watched the movie based on it. That is just my completely biased and unproven opinion. 🙂

I would love to see any (really, all) of your WW2 novels made into movies. So many of our younger people do not read and your books are history lessons as well as entertainment.
