Our son Kurt and his lovely wife Kellie recently shared they’re having a baby! Our first grandchild, and we’re beyond excited.
This past Sunday, we had a reveal party, and their sweetly rambunctious double doodle Malcolm was the “revealer!” Watch the 15 second video below to see the reveal…
Yep, we all waited in the front yard and Malcolm ran out with a blue bandana and balloons to make the announcement—and to get his squeaking broccoli toy. Not sure if you heard it, but that’s Kels asking me “Why is the broccoli wet?” It’s because Malcolm slimed it!
So come December, Kellie and Kurt will be having a BOY! And we’ll be having a grandson.
So please, all of you grandmothers out there clue me into what this is going to be like. What’s the greatest joy of having grandchildren? Also, what do your grandchildren call you? Share any and everything!
~ Tammy, aka soon to be GramTam, a name chosen by the kids. My husband will be Papa Joe.
Also, JOCELYN, you won the YOU CAN REST book giveaway on a post last month (your entry is below). So if you’ll write me HERE, I’ll get you your book!
This month I’m giving away a Dear Mushka Necklace (pic below) so be sure and check that out if you like jewelry. I love Dear Mushka creations and how they tie them to Scripture. This necklace is inspired by a verse in Micah:
No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8
Hugs from Nashville,
Tammy

So, so thrilled for you, dear friend! There’s just nothing like grandkids. All the joy of kids and when things get tough, you send ’em home. 🙂 Seriously though, they truly are such a blessing. Congrats and let the fun begin!

You know we’re excited! I’ve been watching you through the years and have been taking notes. You’re a wonderful Mimi!

Congrats on the new baby. I also will be a Grandmother (Nonna) in Dec. I have one Granddaughter who is the love of my love and now another gift from God. I am blessed
Tamera Alexander says
Congratulations, Tish! We’ll have to compare notes come December. : ) I love “Nonna” and know you’re a wonderful one.

Congratulations! There is no greater joy than grandparenthood–all the joy, and a lot less heartache and angst. :-). You’re going to love it!

I’m excited, Angie. Thanks! And your grandchildren are precious!

Congratulations! You are in for the joy of your life. We have two beautiful grandchildren – a granddaughter who lives here in Virginia near us, soon to be 15; and a grandson who lives in California and was 13 in June. Our children chose the more traditional names, which they used – grandma and granddaddy. Since our grandson is so far away, and we did weekly Skpe calls (now facebook), he came up with a name he thought he heard. Our daughter always quickly said, “Say hello to grandma and granddaddy.” He thought he was hearing grandma and grandmadaddy, and called my husband grandmadaddy for years.
I only knew one grandfather and called him granddaddy. One of my grandmother’s was nannie and the other grandma. My husband is from New Jersey where they used mom-mom and pop-pop.
I’m so excited for you and your family!
Tamera Alexander says
Betty, you are blessed, indeed! That’s so funny about the grandmadaddy! It’s interesting how culture and where we’re raised influences those names too, isn’t it? Appreciate you sharing.

Congratulations to all! My granddaughter is only 10 months old so I don’t have a lot to go on but having that big smile when I come in and her reaching for me is priceless. She calls me Anana right now so I don’t know where that will lead.
Tamera Alexander says
How sweet is that! Anana. I can’t wait to experience that joy. : )
Angie Quantrell says
Congratulations! A sweet baby boy! Awww. I am called Nana (with all of our grands, they used to argue that I was NOT grandma…I was Nana) and Papa is my honey. So sweet to have them call you and come running! Get ready for snuggles and loves!
Tamera Alexander says
You make it sound heavenly, Angie! I can’t wait! : )
Becky Wade says
This is SUCH happy news!!!! I’m delighted for them and for you. Congrats, GramTam! My oldest is a December baby, born on December 9th. Every year we’d put up the tree and light it early in December. But we’d wait until her birthday to hang ornaments — which became a fun tradition. 🙂
Tamera Alexander says
That’s so sweet, Becky! I love that tradition. And yes, we ARE excited. Joe and I look back over the years and wonder where they’ve gone. Life is moving so quickly these days. Your time will be here in a blink, girl!
Amy B. says
Congratulations to your family! That is wonderful news & the names you have chosen for him to call you are so sweet!
Tamera Alexander says
Thanks, Amy. Appreciate you sharing today.
Linda says
Congratulations to all! I am Grandma Linda to three beautiful kids ages 5,2 and 11 months, and it always makes my heart sing to hear that in their little voices. They live in California and I’m in Indiana, but we video chat nearly every week. My son’s birthday is December 20th, and he has never had a combination birthday/Christmas anything in his 34 years. You have a lot of fun times coming your way!
Tamera Alexander says
Thank goodness for technology, huh, Linda! That’s wonderful that you video chat like that. And we will for sure celebrate both his bday and Christmas separately. Appreciate you!
Jocelyn says
Congratulations! It is such an awesome experience being a grandparent.
And thank you for the win. I sent my mailing info to you already.
