Confessions of a Pastor’s Kid

October 2, 2015 By Jody Hedlund

Growing up I was a PK, church lingo for Pastor's Kid. My dad was a Lutheran Pastor. And I grew up in the church. Not literally, of course. We usually lived in a parsonage, often one that was next door to the church. But my life centered around attending potlucks, Sunday School, potlucks, church, catechism class, potlucks, church related events. Did I mention potlucks? ;-) I confess. … [Read more...]

Studying—and Living—to My Heart’s Content

September 23, 2015 By Robin Lee Hatcher

Bible Study I love Wednesdays! Why? Because Bible Study Fellowship has resumed in the USA (and in many other countries around the world). And this year, BSF has added a new study to their program: the Book of Revelation. Last week on my personal blog, I posted about the packed-to-the-rafters status of my local class. September 17, 2015 By Karen Witemeyer

Last month, I shared a post about the change I was facing in my day job. (If you didn't see it, you can read that post here.) Well, I'm happy to announce that I survived the transition! Our church is working its way through the book of 1st Corinthians at present, and this past Sunday the sermon was focused on spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts, in general, are capacities and abilities apportioned and empowered by God in a Christian’s life for the common good. But the pastor said something else that has stuck with me since. He mentioned that as part of common grace (according to … [Read more...]

Transition is a part of life . . .But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

August 6, 2015 By Karen Witemeyer

Over the last month or so, I've been dealing with multiple transitions that have added stress and excitement to my life. No major catastrophes like death or serious illness, praise God, but significant changes nonetheless. And I've never been a big fan of change. I learned of the first major  change about 6 weeks ago. The full-time job I've known for the last 12 years of my life fell victim to … [Read more...]
