In Memory of Mandisa

May 7, 2024 By Tamera Alexander

This is a post I originally published on August 30, 2011, long before I had the joy of meeting Mandisa in a Bible study we both attended in a friend's home here in Nashville a handful of years ago. As everyone says, she was—and still is—the real deal. I'm heartbroken over her passing, but her openness and transparency encouraged me then, and still does today. I originally entitled this August … [Read more...]

Mary Had a Little Lamb . . . and so did I!

May 6, 2024 By Angela Hunt

I don't know if you saw the hilarious picture of lamb cakes that was going around on Facebook . . . This photo makes me laugh every time I look at it. But because I love baking, I decided I had to make a lamb cake this year. Joe and I are getting ready to move, again (still in the Nashville area, just down to College Grove), and Kelsey, Kellie, and I (all three of us denim-clad) snapped a pic while we checked out the new house. A new house is exciting and I'm so grateful. But oy, I do not like moving. Who does, though, right? … [Read more...]

What does basketball have to do with writing?

March 28, 2024 By Cara Putman

I grew up loving college sports...but football. I'm from Nebraska after all. But when I moved to Indiana, Purdue wasn't very good at football. Drew Brees had graduated and let's just say it wasn't necessarily the glory days. Still I ADORE college football. There's just something about it. And part of that is that Nebraska has been traditionally really bad at college basketball. I went to a … [Read more...]
