Offbeat Movies Based on Historical Events

May 20, 2020 By D'Ann Mateer

Throughout this time at home, we have been continually searching for different things to watch. We don’t usually follow the normal movie or tv trends. We enjoy the pursuit of an obscure show that touches our hearts and feeds our minds. Over the past couple of weeks we’ve discovered three “based on historical events” movies on Amazon that we’ve loved, so I thought I’d share! Stone of … [Read more...]

Laughter is the Best Medicine

April 15, 2020 By D'Ann Mateer

With everything heavy going on the in the world, my husband and I have been seeking clean, old-fashioned, laugh-out-loud comedies to help lighten our spirits. But being trained in history, I also love pursuing the mystery, digging and digging until an assumed-to-be lost story suddenly comes to life. … [Read more...]

Book Movies

March 4, 2020 By D'Ann Mateer

In the past few weeks, my husband and I have watched three book movies—movie adaptations of classic literature. (One was technically a mini-series, but still.) We love these kinds of movies, both because we know the story will be good, for it has endured the test of time, and also because we enjoy the historical world on screen.  Also, It’s always interesting to see how closely a filmmaker … [Read more...]
