A Gathering in Granbury

February 15, 2018 By Karen Witemeyer

Last month, I had the privilege of gathering with 5 other Texas authors (well, one was from Oklahoma, but we let her into the club because she passed the awesome author test) for a weekend retreat in historic Granbury, TX. We are all currently write historicals or have in the past, so the location was perfect! You know how you travel hundreds of miles to see fascinating sites but can't seem to … [Read more...]

Speaking in Libraries

February 1, 2018 By Karen Witemeyer

I don't do a lot of speaking gigs during the year since I have a regular 8-5 day job, but when I get the chance to speak at a library, I'm eager to participate. Last month, I had the honor of speaking at a lovely small town library in Alvarado, TX. The Texas Writes group organized the event and brought me out along with a fun middle-grade author name Jeramey Kraatz who writes for Harper Collins. … [Read more...]

One Essential Way to Boost Productivity

January 19, 2018 By Jody Hedlund

Last year I hit a new record. I wrote five full-length novels. Three of the five were YA (Young Adult) books which are slightly shorter in length (and require less research) than my adult historicals. However, five is quite the accomplishment for me considering my busy schedule with five children and homeschooling. I’m often asked, “How do you do it?” I never have a perfect answer. Mostly … [Read more...]

The Voyage

January 15, 2018 By Lynn Austin

I once heard a speaker compare life to a kayak trip downriver. Sometimes the waters are smooth and we can enjoy a leisurely journey, admiring the beauty all around us. But every now and then we hit the rapids and we’re suddenly thrown into a mad scramble to stay afloat. As we navigate past rocks and other dangers, overwhelmed with fear, we wonder if life will ever be serene and peaceful again. … [Read more...]
