Celebrating Another Anniversary

August 10, 2015 By Deborah Raney

DSCN6336Tomorrow is my anniversary. Our anniversary. Forty-one years with the man I love more than life itself. My best-ever gift from God. And I’m still learning new things about that man, still falling more in love with him with every day, and still falling for the stupid pranks he plays on me. Still laughing together. That’s the best part.

We share our anniversary with our oldest daughter and her husband. I always lose track, but I think this is fourteen years for them. That doesn’t seem possible. Especially when I remember our own fourteenth anniversary. Like them, we had three little kids. (And one yet to come… Beware, Tobi and Ryan! 😉 )Tobi&Ryan's wedding

Looking back to our fortieth anniversary last year, I’m amazed at how much has changed in one short year. This year, we have two new grandbabies on the way! Three of our kids have moved or are in the process of moving. Exciting changes and adventures. Life is good and we are blessed, and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather share this journey with.

DEBORAH RANEY's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title and launched Deb’s writing career. Forty books later, she's still creating stories that touch hearts and lives. Her novels have won RWA's RITA Award, the ACFW Carol Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the HOLT Medallion. She is also a three-time Christy Award finalist. Deb is on faculty for several national writers’ conferences and served on the executive board of the 2,500-member American Christian Fiction Writers organization for 18 years before retiring in 2022. She is a recent transplant to Missouri, having moved with her husband, Ken Raney, from their native Kansas to be closer to kids and grandkids. They love road trips, e-biking, Friday garage sale dates, and breakfast on the screened porch overlooking their wooded backyard.

Thanks so much for the warm anniversary wishes. We’re not doing anything special for our day (except maybe going out to eat) but we are definitely celebrating in our hearts. And hoping for many more years together.

Wishing joy and happiness to all the rest of you with August anniversaries! It was a popular month to get married…right before heading back to college for us, and our daughter too. 🙂

Happy Anniversary to you both! My husband and I will be celebrating our 34th on the 28th of this month. Our son got married July 11th and we’re still celebrating that.
I’ve wondered why in wedding pictures the groom is never smiling. Notice your two pictures.

LOL! That’s funny! I never noticed that. And I must say, for Ken, that’s actually a pretty big smile. I’d guess if most grooms are like mine, they love BEING married. GETTING married, not so much. 😉
