Hi friends!
I’m excited it’s my day to post because it’s World Book Day. I thought what better way to celebrate than to share some fun facts.
- World Book Day began on April 23rd, 1995, and it is celebrated on the same day every year.

- World Book Day is on the same day as the anniversaries of the deaths of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

- One hundred countries celebrate World Book Day.
- The world’s longest sentence was penned by Victor Hugo in his novel, Les Misérables. It is 823 words long.
- The first foreign language edition of my debut novel, Submerged, was published in German.

- There is a World Book Night in the UK on (or around) the 23rd, where volunteers give away books.
- Some famous book series that have been made into movies include: The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.

- My favorite authors with the most book-to-movie adaptations include Jane Austen at 23, Agatha Christie at 50, and Shakespeare at 1100 Film Adaptations. There may be more with high numbers, including Stephen King, for example, at 34.

- One of the bestselling Christian fiction series is the Left Behind Series by Jerry Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, which has sold an estimated 80 million copies.
Ways to celebrate World Book Day and promote reading
- Buy a book
- Lend a friend a book
- Write a book
- Start a book club
- Read a book yourself or to a child
- Get a book from the library

I’d love to hear your favorite book of all time.
Have a blessed week,
Dani

Any day to celebrate books is a great day in my … book. 😉 It’s too hard to narrow down to one favorite book, though. My favorite classic book is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. My favorite general market romance is The Secret by Julie Garwood. I have several favorite Christian fiction favorites, but I think I’ll play it safe and pick Christy by Catherine Marshall. It was my first Christian fiction read as a teen, and I loved it!
Hi Karen!
Fun list of favorites. I LOVE Jane Eyre too and I’ve never read The Secret but sounds like I should 🙂
Fun post, Dani. I can’t believe that Victor Hugo wrote a sentence that was 823 words long!!! That’s crazy! My favorite book of all-time would have to be Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers but Pride and Prejudice would be a close second!
Those are great favorites! I know. I’m showing my editor that number of words so my sentences are never t thought long again. LOL!
World Book Day! Who knew? I can’t pick a favorite, mostly because my favorites change at different seasons in my life. 🙂
Hey D’Ann,
That is so true about favorites changing with seasons of life. Great point!
Another way to celebrate World Book Day:
Thanking all the amazing authors here for their great books 😃 Without you there won’t be a World Book Day. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing your beautiful gift with us!!!
So keep them coming… 😉
Aww. Thank you so much from all us authors. I know I and the rest of the gang are so grateful for our readers. Without you there’d be no books either. Have a blessed day!
My favorite when I was a teenager was Christy, but since then, my list of favorites has grown to include too many to list. LOL My favorite book you wrote is Shattered. I love reading, writing, books, and everything bookish.
Hi Gena,
Aww. Thanks so much. So glad you enjoyed Shattered. Piper and Landon are still my favorite couple, but Riley and Greyson from Two Seconds Too Late are a close second.
Enjoyed your post! My favorite book of all time is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.
