Challenge Accepted

September 20, 2022 By Tamera Alexander

About five years ago, I accepted a challenge from a friend who had made it her personal goal not to watch more TV than she spent time in God’s Word. Accepting that challenge has changed my life.

I had long been a student of God’s Word, but over the past few years I’ve fallen more and more in love with His Word—and deeper in love with Christ. My hunger and thirst for knowing God—not just “learning more about him”—has increased in ways I didn’t expect. And I’m so grateful.

Part of this journey has been discovering new favorite Bible teachers and classes such as…

Paige Brown’s Standing Alone: Scenes from Elijah and Elisha

It’s only Week 2 and it’s already such a rich study. Watch Week 2 really quick today, if you can, as the livestream “disappears” tonight! Tick Tick

And don’t worry about missing last week’s lesson, Paige does a fabulous job of recapping the previous week (last week was an introduction).

WATCH STANDING ALONE WEEK 2

The nitty gritty on Standing Alone, the series

If anyone else is taking Paige’s study, please speak up and share your experience!

What are you currently reading in God’s Word? And if I could be so bold, could I challenge you (in love) to spend more time in God’s Word than in watching TV? Talk about reaping treasures untold both here and for eternity. God’s Word, the gift that keeps on giving!

Love from Nashville,

Tammy

Tammy, you introduced me to Paige Brown a couple of studies ago. I can be thankful that the pandemic forced her to take her study online. Now she continues that way even though lots of people are present. That way, I benefit here in Idaho.

And I agree. Here first two weeks have already been amazing. I watch on YouTube with my laptop open, and I take notes all the way through.

Ditto, Robin. I’m grateful she’s continued the online option (and hope she doesn’t ever go back to in person only), and love walking through this study with you and comparing notes!

I challenged myself to read the New Testament all the way through. I’ve read the Old Testament a number of times, but only the gospels in the New Testamennt. I just finished Philippians and am starting Colossians. I have a wonderful book about Paul’s journeys, filled with maps and pictures. I now know why my husband loved Paul so much.

Thank you for an uplifting post.

Thank YOU, Betty, for your encouragement. What book did you just finish about Paul? I’d love to know! Praying for you, sweet friend.

Tammy, the book is The Journeys of St. Paul (Reader’s Digest, Bible Wisdom for today) by James Harpur and Marcus Braybrooke. Although published in 1997, it is still available today – just checked Amazon.

Thank you for your prayers – always appreciated.

Tammy, thank you for telling us about Paige Brown a year ago. I’ve been following her ever since and have learned so much! I take pages of notes every week. I’ve also invited other people to join the study as well.

Thank YOU for passing Paige’s studies along to others, and keeping the Word flowing! Amen on all the notes too. It’s such a gift to be able to study the Word like this.
