I know, Halloween and Thanksgiving have to come first and then we celebrate Christmas. This is always a very special time of year for those of us who celebrate the birth of Christ. But there is a commercial side of Christmas and publishers like that, too. Christmas stories are all the rage in women’s fiction and romance. So I thought I’d get a jump start on tooting my Christmas horn since I have several books coming out during the season.
First, a reissue of a novella titled “Sleigh Bells Ring” with authors Sandra Bricker, Barbara Scott and Lynette Sowell. This collection was published a year ago by Gilead, and sadly, Sandy passed away near the launch time of the book. I miss her every day and I’m so thankful she came into my life. But we can celebrate her memory since each of the novellas are being reissued as stand alone novellas. Available late October. Here is my cover:
Next, I’m one of the authors in an Indie boxed collection, along with some friends. This one will be out in November: Love this cover! My story is set in Key West.
And finally, in December, I have a Love Inspired Suspense out with my friend Terri Reed. Christmas writing is fun when you share it with friends! That’s what the season is all about–being with loved ones and I do love my writer family!
I consider the amazing women on this blog as part of that support system and family. What do you plan to read during the holiday season? What is your favorite Christmas story?

Wow! What a booklovers Christmas you’re giving us, Lenora! Like you, I just LOVE the cover with the sweater sleeves and coffee…even the mug is wearing a sweater! Charming! Thanks for starting the spark of Christmas spirit in our hearts! 🙂

I’m well into my Christmas reading and I’m on my 6th Christmas book. All Christian Fiction of course. I’ve read two of Melody Carlson’s Christmas books. I’m currently reading a book that is part of the Guidepost Sugat Creek Amish Mysteries. It is titled A Season of Secrets and it is by Elizabeth Adams. Your covers look very inviting too.

Shirley, those are great choices. Melody is a wonderful writer and who doesn’t love an Amish Christmas story!

Lenora, congratulations! I didn’t know you had THREE Christmas books coming out! Awesome! I’m so impressed. Guess that explains why you’ve been so busy!
Lenora says
Hi, Marilyn. Yes, always juggling plates. But one of them is a reissue so I didn’t write it this year. I like to keep busy. Keeps me out of trouble!

Thanks for the advance notice of the Christmas stories! I start reading Christmas stories around Thanksgiving, and now that I’ll be retiring in early November to care for my Dad, I’m praying I have time to read several Christmas stories. There are no real favorites, but I will say I’ve kept every Christmas book I’ve read (and many I haven’t gotten to yet), and am already looking for more. Thank you, Lenora, for writing and using the talent the Lord gave you! We your readers benefit for sure! Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much, Hilda. We writers love hearing that we make our readers happy! That’s the best part of our job!

I enjoy rereading “Christmas with Anne & Other Stories” by Lucy M. Montgomery, edited by Rea Wilmshurst. It’s a compilation of Montgomery’s Christmas and New Year’s short stories.
Another title I read during Advent and Christmas seasons is “A Catholic Christmas” by Kathleen Carroll. It’s a faith-filled read.
Finally, “The Man Who Invented Christmas” by Les Standiford: a non-fiction account of how Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol” saved his writing career. It’s the basis of a new movie by the same title starring Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens.
