Counting Down

October 17, 2025 By Robin Lee Hatcher

UPDATE: The random winner of a copy of To Reveal a Reckless Love is Gwen (e***m@y***.com). An email with instructions is coming your way.

I use and love the Countdown app on my iPhone so I can see various deadlines that are rushing toward me, usually much too fast. It’s helpful to open the app to see what is coming next.

Of course, some deadlines are fun and we can’t wait for them. That is true for me for what is at the top of my Countdown list, the release of To Reveal a Reckless Love (November 1st).

It feels like I’ve been waiting for this release for ages. Of course, this novel was one of the original three stories in the series that I proposed 15 years ago. So in that sense, it has been a long wait.

I always knew I wanted to write about the beauties of Yellowstone and Idaho through the eyes of Roger Bernhardt, a gifted artist. I also knew that wouldn’t be easy. Although I received my first set of oil paints at the age of 12, and I have “played” with acrylics and watercolors on canvas through the years, I am not gifted in that respect. But I wanted very much to bring Roger’s view of the world to life through my writing. My early readers are claiming I’ve done so, which makes me oh-so-very happy.

I can’t wait to share Roger’s and Victoria’s story with readers.

To help celebrate, I’m giving away a copy of To Reveal a Reckless Love to one lucky winner who leaves a comment on this blog post. If you are in the US, I’ll send an autographed paperback. If you are outside of the US, I will send you a link to download a digital copy (ePub, for any ebook reader). I’ll announce the winner with an update to this post on Monday, October 20th.

And if you’d like, you can preorder your Kindle copy now. The Amazon paperback will be available to order soon. The paperback can be preordered from B&N now.

Congrats on your latest book. 15 years is a long time. That’s how long it took me to make my double wedding quilt. We’ve been on a countdown for awhile for my husband’s retirement from teaching. I think we started with about 9 years to go. He has a daily countdown on his white board. About a year and a half to go. I’ve been counting down until we can hike the AT. About 2.5 years. It’s starting to get real and a little scary.
Both my grandmothers painted. My youngest daughter is very artistic. I’m always getting her canvases.
    God bless,
    Kim in NC
A long time reader (probably more than 15 years)

Congrats on yet another release, my friend! I especially love your setting in this series. When I think of a fictional character who really changed me, I think of Francine’s Hadassah in the Mark of the Lion series. I STILL think of those stories (and characters) all these years later.

LOVE that app, too! And you’re right, some dates rush toward us faster than we think.

I’m so excited for you, Robin. As you know, I loved this book…love the whole series…but this one might be my favorite. 🙂

Congratulations on the upcoming release of TO REVEAL A RECKLESS LOVE!
I would be drawn to this book by the cover alone. LOVE IT! It’s my favorite color, but I also like the split screen and the woman is beautifully posed. The story sounds amazing and I can’t wait for the opportunity to read and review it.
While I never had an app, I really enjoyed using the countdown system when our daughter was little. I still use it for myself as a way to control my excitement by reminding myself “not time yet” or helps to remind myself of important events I can’t take a chance on forgetting.
Thank you for the wonderful chance to win a copy!

This book sounds so interesting. I have visited Yellowstone twice, which is such a blessing for this East coast Virginia girl. The first time was when I was 10 years old and my father had a business trip in Los Angeles. He decided to take vacation in conjunction with this trip and drive our family across country to see the sights – northern route out and southern route home. We couldn’t believe it was snowing in Yellowstone on August 31st. The second time was in 2009 when my husband and I decided to drive across country when our grandson was born in California. We repeated the trip of my childhood. Yellowstone is such a amazing amazing place. I have the first three books in this series, but would love an autographed copy.

I can’t paint at all. I quilt, cross stitch, crochet, and I’m taking up knitting, but painting and drawing are not my gift. I love art though and suggest you visit the interactive art exhibit of Van Gogh, it is spectacular!!

I have never been to that part of the country, and the pictures I have seen are breathtaking. I am not an artist, but I do think watercolor painting looks like a fun hobby.

It’s a toss-up between Margaret Murry and Lucy Pevensie as I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe about the same time as A Wrinkle in Time.

It is hard to pick just one character who influenced me !! Anne of Green Gables as a kid, and Lucy from Lion Witch and the Wardrobe. More recently I would say Keren from Tessa Afshar’s The Hidden Prince

What fictional character has helped me see the world through a new lens? Every one of them! It’s why I read and why I work as a high school librarian.

I read the first two the British are Coming books and loved them. Thanks for the giveaway.

I have gone through several copies of CS Lewis’ ‘Narnia’ stories, but the fictional characters live on in my mind, even though copies wore out. I loved reading the stories to my kids & to children in my church.
I’m excited to read your new book, because I’m partial to books set in the American West. I believe you will bring the West alive through your fictional characters.

Hi Robin, I was an art major in college and come from a family of artists, so I can’t wait to read To Reveal a Reckless Love and meet Roger and Victoria! That’s such a beautiful area to set a story!
