Book covers are fun pieces of art, but they can also serve as artistic inspiration. Over the weekend, I challenged my FB group, The Posse, to try their hand at replicating one or more of my covers. It seemed like a fun idea, especially for those who are still sheltering at home. The response was wonderful! Readers are such creative people. I just had to share the fun results with you.

These first two served as the inspiration for this game. This one was done by Amy Green, fiction publicist at Bethany House, as part of a cover replication challenge last fall. The one below is by a reader in the Netherlands who recruited her dad to assist as our hero. Her dad reads my books, too, so he already has his hero spurs as far as I’m concerned.

Head in the Clouds proved to be the most popular cover replication. So many lovely ladies taking their lives in their hands by reading while walking down steps.

These next two ladies captured banker heroine Emma Chandler perfectly!

The next two readers got their husbands to fill in as the manly blacksmith Levi Grant. That’s true love, right there. So heroic!

More hero action with Short-Straw Bride!

These are some of my favorite fashion matches.

These had clever twists involved.

This was so much fun!
Which photos are your favorites?
If you were going to replicate a book cover, which would you select?

You certainly have some clever, creative readers, Karen!
I was so impressed with their creativity. They did so well!
Oh my goodness! These are fabulous, Karen! What fun! I smiled big looking at these!
That was my reaction as each one came in, Deb. This has to be one of my favorite reader activities ever!
I am smiling ear to ear. These are wonderful and I am so glad you shared.
It turned out to be the perfect “shelter in place” activity, Becky. I love how creative everyone was. I feel like a proud mama, eager to show off what her kids have done. LOL!
These were all so great! 🙂 I loved them all! My favorites were the Short Straw Bride (the bearded guy’s facial expression cracked me up), A Tailor-Made (dress was awesome), and Stealing the Preacher (that little church, so adorable) & Worth the Wait (love the pick-up truck)!
Have the best day! 🙂 Mary
I’m with you on the bearded hero in the Short-Straw Bride shot, Mary. Those eyes! Such a character. 🙂
I know . . . completely hysterical. 🙂 Have the best day Karen, your books inspire us all.

-through and participating of all these masterpieces. So impressive and fun.
It all happened over a single weekend. I had no idea how many would submit photos, but I was so pleased with all the participation!
I LOVE these!! A huge round of applause to all the readers who played along!
Amen!
All of these are a tribute to what your stories mean to your readers!
If I was to duplicate a cover, it might be one from the 1940s (Lynn Austin, Sarah Sundin, etc.) as I already have the wardrobe!
Love that idea, Janice! The 1940’s was such a classy era.
Love these!! Thanks for sharing!
They were too good NOT to share. 🙂
Those were fun! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
My pleasure, Lori!
Tickled to have been a part of this! So much fun!
I still can’t get over the fact that your 3 year-old was your photographer. Awesome!
Those are so fun! I’d like to dress up and replicate More Than Words Can Say because I love to bake!
That would be perfect, Emilee!
This was so much fun!! I’m honored to be included on your blog. With all the quarantine things going on it was nice to see my daughter who came over to take the picture. I just needed to see my baby girl who is a school teacher and needed a break from her zoom classroom so we really had fun with this.
Love love love your books!
Wonderful, Janet! I’m glad I gave the two of you and excuse to get together. We need that connection.
