Cover Reveal!

Falling for You is scheduled to release on May 1st, but I have the pleasure of revealing its cover to you today!

This particular story stars model (and eldest sister) Willow Bradford and retired quarterback Corbin Stewart.  Eagle-eyed readers of my Porter Family series might have noticed that Corbin was first introduced in Her One and Only as the hero’s friend and teammate.  Midway through the writing of Her One and Only, I decided to carry Corbin over into my next series and cast him as the hero of his own book.

Later, when I began gathering my thoughts for the Bradford Sisters series, I figured out where and how I could fit Corbin in.  Then I spent time pondering the type of woman that would A) be able to stand up to his big personality and B) complement him best.  Corbin’s determined, humorous, and confident.  I had great time pairing him with Willow because her calm and collected exterior hides a cautious heart and a surprisingly strong backbone of steel.  I gave the two of them a reunion romance served up with a generous portion of “opposites attract”.

I love writing romance!  I’m somewhat of a hopeless romantic and I can’t imagine writing anything other that the type of books I’ve been writing for the Christian market (unless the Lord has surprises in store)!  That said, in my most recent books and again in Falling for You, I’ve enjoyed the creative challenge of answering big, over-arching plot questions while telling my love stories.  In Her One and Only the question was, Who’s Gray’s stalker?  In True to You it was Who is John’s birth mother?  In Falling for You, it’s What Happened to the Missing Woman?

Here’s a glimpse at Falling for You’s blurb:

Famously beautiful model Willow Bradford is taking a temporary break from her hectic schedule to work as the innkeeper at her family’s small-town bed-and-breakfast. She was enjoying the peace of her hometown, Merryweather, Washington, right up until she came face-to-face with Corbin Stewart, the man she loves to hate. A thoughtful rule-follower by nature, Willow threw caution to the wind four years ago when she entrusted her heart to Corbin — then suffered the consequences when it all fell apart.

I can’t thank cover designer Jennifer Parker and the other hard-working members of the art team at Bethany House enough.  I’m delighted with this cover!  Her dress is stunning.  Her seated pose on the stairs is modern and fresh + casual and classy.  And I can’t believe how much this model looks like the Willow of my imagination.

I’m happy to report that a few bookstores are already offering Falling for You for pre-order!

  1. What a fantastic cover! So different from True to You. Can’t wait to read both and see the differences!

    • Yes, it is different from True to You, isn’t it? Both covers feature the same fonts and series logo plus heroines in pretty dresses. But on True to You’s cover, Nora was standing and you couldn’t see much of her face. That cover had a bit of a vintage feel. Here, Willow is sitting and looking straight out from the photograph and it has a very modern feel. 🙂

    • I’m excited for you to read it, Jennifer! I’ve already finished rewrites on it, which means I’ll read the manuscript just two more times. Once with a red pen in my hand to make final tweaks. Once to hunt for any remaining typos.

I like the mix of glamour (mercy, that dress!) and casual (the peek of bare feet with those fancy heels tossed to the side are a great bit) – it definitely stirs up my curiosity to read their love story. And I appreciate a good second-chance-at-love narrative. Looking forward to what Falling for You will tell.

    • I really enjoy second-chance-at-love stories, too, Michelle. In fact, at some point along the line I realized that all my stories are, in some way or another, second-chance-at-love stories — even when the hero and heroine meet for the first time in the first chapter. I think I’m drawn to second chances because I’m so thankful for the grace and the second, third, fourth, fifth (and on and on)… chances that God has extended to me.

    • I agree, Rachel! Not only does the cover reveal what Willow looks like, but it gives clues to her personality, style, and demeanor. There really is something easy about the photo because of the bare feet, the way her head is tilted, her expression, and how her arms are arranged.

  15. Fabulous cover, Becky! I love the bare feet. It’s such a personality thing. Subtle, but conveys a lot. This is a woman who despite the fancy dress appreciates the simple things in life, likes to be comfortable, and is not afraid to do the unexpected when necessary.     • I love the dress, too! After seeing this cover, I searched for a place in the (already written) story where I could dress Willow in it. I couldn’t find a scene that worked, but I did find a spot to mention the dress, at least.

  26. I LOVE this cover!!! The steps, the bare feet with the shoes on the side, the color of the dress, and the look on Willow’s face is captivating! I CAN’T WAIT to read Falling for You! May is too long away! LOL! I’m so glad that Corbin gets his story, and Willow sounds like the perfect person for him. LOVE these books!!!

  27. Becky, this cover is absolutely stunning! I like that the designer (Jennifer always does a fabulous job) gives it its own personality so that it’s clearly Willow’s story, but also matches the theme or “look” of the series True to You introduced. Love that a pair of heels are still on the cover even though Willow is barefoot (which goes well with her character). Cannot wait to read this one – and congrats on this new story!! 😊

    • Thanks, Rissi! And yes — I’m glad you mentioned her heels. Both Nora’s dress AND heels featured prominently on True to You’s cover. So the designers were thoughtful when they brought that tradition forward by including the heels here, even though Willow’s barefoot.

  34. Wow! It’s absolutely stunning! I love the older look of the stairs with the modern look of the model and gown. The sparkly parts of the picture add some pizzazz to it. I love it and can’t wait to read it!

  35. This is such a neat cover. I notice that each sister is getting closer to the house. First sister has the whole house in the background. This sister is in the steps. Will Britt be inside the house (maybe the kitchen) on her cover? 🙂

    It’s not quite what I was expecting, True to You and Then Came You both have more of a vintage feel. And this one doesn’t have that.
    But I love it!
    I read over the other comments and found myself agreeing with what others have already said…:) it just has such an intriguing effect on me…I can’t wait to read it!

    • You’re right, Rosalyn. The other covers do have a vintage feel and this one is more modern. Good point! I think the art department may have been less interested in “matching” the other covers in the series than they were in creating a cover for this one that was strong in and of itself.

  44. I love this cover. It shows Willow’s elegance but also her down-to-earthness with the bare feet. I’ve read all of your books and am looking forward to this one. It will be just in time to make a good Mother’s Day gift so I’ll be sure to make the hint to my children!
