Today I’m revealing THREE covers for upcoming books!
Those who are a part of my Reader Room on Facebook have already had an EXCLUSIVE peek at upcoming covers and releases. Head over and join so that you don’t miss out on exclusive information and opportunities! Go HERE!
In any case, I’m excited to share my covers with everyone else today!
With the recent release of my first bride-ship book, readers are already asking about the second book! I’m pleased to let you know that THE RUNAWAY BRIDE releases next March of 2020 and will tell the story about one of the wealthy brides, Arabella Lawrence. You can pre-order it HERE.
Drumroll… Here’s the cover…
Coming this fall, I have a brand new medieval YA series releasing… The Lost Princesses series which is similar to my Noble Knights books, but has a bit more of a fairy-tale feel to it. The stories are for young and old readers alike!
To kick things off on August 13, ALWAYS releases! You can pre-order it HERE.
Here’s what the story is about:
On the verge of dying after giving birth to twins, the queen of Mercia pleads with Lady Felicia to save her infant daughters. With the castle overrun by King Ethelwulf’s invading army, Lady Felicia vows to do whatever she can to take the newborn princesses and their three-year old sister to safety, even though it means sacrificing everything she holds dear, possibly her own life.
Gravely wounded in battle and knowing all is lost to his enemy, the king of Mercia tasks Lance, one of his fiercest elite guards, to protect his family along with keys to an ancient treasure. As Lance makes plans to sneak the princesses out of the capital city, he doesn’t need or want Lady Felicia’s help.
With the dark enemy in pursuit, Lance and Felicia must put aside their differences to outrun King Ethelwulf and prevent him from killing the princesses. In a desperate attempt to hide the young girls, Lance and Felicia agree to a marriage of convenience, a decision that will change their lives—and hearts—forever.
On August 27, EVERMORE releases! You can pre-order it HERE.
Here’s a little more about the story:
Raised by a noble family, Lady Adelaide has always known
she’s an orphan. Little does she realize she’s one of the lost princesses and
the true heir to Mercia’s throne…until a visitor arrives at her family estate,
reveals her birthright as queen, and thrusts her into a quest for the throne
whether she’s ready or not.
Unable to tolerate King Ethelwulf’s cruelty and lawlessness, Christopher
Langley left Mercia years earlier, training a group of rebels in neighboring
Norland. When he returns home after his mother’s death, he discovers that not
only is Adelaide all grown up, but she’s also the rightful queen of Mercia.
When King Ethelwulf discovers Adelaide’s location, he’ll stop at nothing to
capture her and the key she holds to the ancient treasure. Christopher is just
as determined to protect Adelaide so she can lead the growing rebellion. When
feelings ignite between the two old friends, forces threaten to destroy their
love and rip them apart forever.
There will be a total of four books in this new series (all of them releasing this fall of 2019). And they will be available in paperback as well as ebook!
A HUGE thank you to my talented cover designers, Jennifer Parker and Emilie Haney! You are both so awesome!
What about YOU? We’ve all heard: “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Are you ever drawn to a book because of its cover? And conversely, do you ever reject a book because of the cover? Curious minds want to know!

I love love LOVE the covers for the Lost Princesses series!!! Wow! And yes, totally judge a book by its cover, for better or worse. I’d totally buy these princess ones even if I didn’t like the story purely because I love the covers! That said, loved the Noble Knights so can’t wait for this series!
Jody Hedlund says
Thank you, Hannah! I’m really glad to know you love the covers! I hope you enjoy the stories just as much! 🙂
Debb says
Oh my those Lost Princesses covers! I am often drawn to a book by the cover. I buy it because of the back cover copy, or because of the author or the endorsements. If I don’t know an author but some other writers I enjoy have endorsed a book, I’ll follow their recommendation.
Jody Hedlund says
Hi Deb, I’m fairly similar in what leads me to a book. Cover plays part of the role, but I also rely heavily upon word of mouth, especially if a lot of people are talking about the book.
Rebecca A Reed says
It is so true that a cover draws me to a book. Yours are totally amazing! If I like a cover, I will read the back cover copy, then look to reviews. I can usually judge by the reviews whether or not the story is one I will enjoy. I don’t always look at the number of stars, but read what others say and go from there, since ratings are very subjective. I will definitely take a look at your lost princesses series. They sound like the type of story I would sink into.
Jody Hedlund says
Hi Rebecca, Thank you! And yes, I often look at reviews too, but as you said they can be subjective. So I always take into account many different factors!
Rebecca Maney says
I hate to admit, but a beautiful cover does grab my attention and one that does not look professionally or artfully formatted, does give me pause.
But no worries, your covers are beautiful!
Jody Hedlund says
Thank you, Rebecca! And thanks for reading my books! 🙂
Joy Tiffany says
The Lost Princesses series sounds fantastic! I just pre-ordered both of them. How exciting that all of them will release this Fall! I am definitely drawn to books by their covers (that and the descriptions above both drew me in!).
Jody Hedlund says
Thank you, Joy! Yes, I’m excited to have them all releasing in quick succession so that readers don’t have to wait long to find out what happens to each of the princesses! Hope you enjoy! 🙂
Cheryl Hart says
The first three things that attract me to a book are:
#1 Cover Art
#2 Author
#3 Title
These are beautiful covers and they all draw me in!
Jody Hedlund says
Hi Cheryl, That’s really interesting that Title is third on your list. If I like the author, then usually I don’t even notice the title! 🙂
Betty Strohecker says
Beautiful covers! I recently finished the Noble Knights series and loved it.
Jody Hedlund says
Hi Betty, Thank you! I hope you’ll love this new series too! Blessings!
Ellie says
Yes to both! I’ve been drawn to books by their covers and I dismiss books by their covers (especially if I’m not familiar with the author).
Jody Hedlund says
Hi Ellie, I can more easily forgive a so-so cover of an author I love. But if I don’t know the author and the cover doesn’t draw me, then, like you, I probably will dismiss the book. 🙂
Brooke says
Agree, well said. If I am a fan of the author, then their work speaks louder than a cover that isn’t the best.
Suzanne Sellner says
Beautiful covers!
Jody Hedlund says
Thank you, Suzanne! 🙂
Shirley Chapel says
In answer to your questions. Yes I’m a cover person. If the cover is plain I will walk away from it unless it is highly recommended by a friend. A cover is an important part of the book because it either beckons or doesn’t interest the potential reader.
Shirley Chapel says
Preordered both books in the new Lost Princess series. The covers are awesome. I’m excited to start this new series at the prequel novella. The story sounds like an intriguing read as any book of yours has been to this reader.
Brooke says
Yes, I am absolutely drawn to books that are visually pleasing and conversely avoid dark, scary looking books. The covers pull me in, then I flip the book over for a quick read of the plot. Love the covers of Evermore and Always! I find everything about them visually pleasing…the images, colors, font, and frames. I especially like the detail in the images….the costumes, hair, foreground, background, depth perception, lighting, sun flares, and fog. Well done! Thanks so much for sharing. What a delight to see and read the summaries.
Bree NarnianWarHorse says
I love admiring covers, and I’ve definitely picked up books just for their cover art, and missed others for a looooong time because their cover art just never jumped out at me. But ultimately, if the summary or setting is intriguing, or I already like the author, that weighs in even more than the cover.
Nicole Santana says
Whoa! These covers are amazing!!! I’m excited to read them all. 😀
Kaley says
This is sooooo exciting!!!! Me and my sister lived your noble knights series!!! I can’t wait for your two new series!!! Thank you for what you do!
Mary Jill Coombs says
I love your books Jody and since I recently arranged my books by Authors you have quite a large space I most always chose my books by Authors and the. Rejoice with them over their cover reveals I do love Medieval Romances and your new series look wonderful !
Every cover is awesome and I so look forward to indulging myself in their beauty Thank you so much !
Janice Laird says
As someone who loves historical novels and researches a lot of history, a historically-correct cover says a lot to me about the depth of the author’s research and the level of respect the publisher has for that writer. Revell’s covers are often top-notch. I’ve seen some real doozies that don’t match the time period at all, and that makes me take a pass on the book. It might not be fair, but there it is.
Shonda Fischer says
I have to say I’ve always been drawn to a cover. The cover is what makes me pick up the book. I read the blurb, but the cover is what makes decide whether to read it or not. When I see the cover it just starts my imagination running!
Faith Marshall says
A princess series! I’m thrilled and looking forward to it! The dresses are gorgeous, by the way!
Is it possible I can pre-order the books in paperback? You said they are available, but all I can find on Amazon is Kindle edition.
Jody Hedlund says
Thank you, Faith! The paperback isn’t available yet for pre-order but will be over the next few weeks!
Elisa says
The “Lost Princess” series looks fantastic! That’s great the complete series will be released.
Of interest, the American Library Assoc. (ALA) is having its annual conference here in DC this weekend. Publishers give away ARCs for attendees so I’ll see what’s available.
Caryl Kane says
Jody, Your covers are SPECTACULAR!
Lori Smanski says
Sweet covers. Yes I am drawn to covers and yes I am also repulsed by some covers. thank you for sharing. Cant wait for these books.
Brenda Murphree says
All these covers are beautiful! The medieval books sounds wonderful too. I have been turned off by a cover and I have been drawn to covers. If I’m looking for my favorite authors I don’t let the cover bother me even though so far they are always beautiful! But if I’m shopping, the cover draws me first with new authors.
Teri DiVincenzo says
I totally judge a book by its cover…that’s what draws me in. Then I read the blurb, and if I’m still on the fence, I check reviews. Usually the author alone is enough to capture my attention!
Linda McFarland says
A book cover is eye-catching and tells its own story. I don’t think I’ve ever rejected a book because of the cover but it did make me think twice like if the cover isn’t that good maybe what’s inside won’t be either.
Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds says
Love your covers. I’m intrigued by covers and it can make or break if I want to read or not. Thank you for sharing.
