So a while ago, I gave Deb Raney $5 and asked her to buy me something the next time she and Ken went garage sale-ing. She always comes back with the neatest finds.
If you don’t already follow Deb’s garage sale posts on her Facebook Page, you need to! She finds the best stuff. For example…
I love what she did with that pot. So pretty. She’s just so stinkin’ creative.
So…what wonderful something did she find for me with the $5 I gave her? (Or that I will give her when she visits me in May <g>).
She didn’t get me just one thing, she got me ALL OF THIS!
I love every single item and am already mentally finding places for these little treasures in my home. But until then, here they are in Deb’s!
I love bird houses and can’t wait to find a special place for this. I’ve told Deb to be sure and write on “the backsides and bottoms” like my mother used to do. I love turning something over that Mom gave me and finding a note and date there. Precious.
I love this wooden ruler Deb nabbed for me too. Every time I use it (and I will), I’ll think of you, Ms. Raney!
Deb said she wasn’t sure if I would like this little Christmas dish or not, but I LOVE it! It matches some of my mother’s Christmas dishes that I inherited when she passed. And see that cool little antique piano at the top right? That antique was Deb’s Valentine’s gift from her husband this year. That um, she is NOT parting with. LOL!
I love teal. In fact, see that little teal apple dish to the left of the card holder? When Deb was visiting me here in Nashville a few years back, we went antiquing and we each bought one of those little teal dishes. I keep rings and earrings in mine—and yep, think of her every time I see it. : )
Do you have special little “treasures” that, when you look at them, you think of someone special in your life? Please share! And are you a garage saler? I used to be back in the day (big time), but I haven’t been in ages.
If you haven’t entered my April GIVEAWAY for the Filament Bible, please do! Eight days left to win. The clock’s a’tickin’!
Much love friends! And thanks again, Deb, for these sweet treasures! One day I want to go garage sale-ing together, if Ken will allow me to tag along. Donuts and coffee on me, babe! ; )

I LOVE all these things!Deb sure has a talent and vision for decorating. I always enjoy pictures of her home, and wish I could think of all of these details. I am not a garage saler, but I have held a few garage sales.
As for things that have special meaning to me, most of them came from my mother. I have some old accent dishes made from both green and pink glass. Several of them were given to me long ago, while Mom and I were washing dishes, and she said, “If you like those, go ahead and take them home so you can enjoy them now.”
However, many of the things I’ve collected are from traveling or places we’ve lived. Hand painted tiles of the 21 California missions hang in my kitchen. I have some pottery from our 28 months on the island of Cyprus. Also, I have a painting of the Ramblas in my living room – a wide, tree-lined pedestrian street in Barcelona, which our hotel overlooked when I met my husband’s ship during one of his Med cruises.
Thank you, as always, for your joyful posts!

Twenty-eight months on the island of Cyprus? Oh Betty, how I would love to hear more about that. What an experience, I bet. Barcelona as well. What a rich journey you’ve had. I love that your sweet mom said to take the dishes now, too. Such a mom thing to do! ; ) Thanks for sharing.

It was amazing. My husband was one of two Marine officers in charge of the Marines stationed with the Naval Security Group, technically attached to the Embassy. Our daughter was born there. We saw castles, abbeys, other ruins, including many mosaics. I have recently been studying St. Paul’s journeys along with my scripture readings and so wish I had known this when we were in Cyprus!

I want to go garage sale-ing with y’all! I haven’t been in ages, either, but I need to hold one. My garage is overflowing with stuff, and lately I’ve been feeling the urge to purge. BTW, I got one of those filament Bibles for my hubby, and he’s finally figured out how to use it. He loves it! Now he doesn’t have to carry around a stack of commentaries when he prepares his sermons, all he needs is his phone and the Filament Bible. Thanks for telling us all about it!
Tamera Alexander says
I love that he’s loving Filament, Angie. I’m loving mine too. I wish Deb and I could blink and be in your garage. Bet you have some fun stuff in there! ; )

Wow… wooden rulers have made it to garage sale status? Guess I’ll hold onto my antique. LOL
Deborah Raney says
If they are older (50+ years) the old free advertising yard sticks now go for $2-5 and up! You can still find rulers, even older ones for 50 cents. I always grab them if they’re old. And use them almost daily whether to measure something, draw a straight line, or tear paper straight. The metal-edged ones are especially good for that.

LOL, Joy!

I love seeing Deb’s garage sale finds. Her house looks so inviting!
I love to go hunting at garage sales and what’s it shops. Not many yet in my neighborhood. Yes, sometimes I remember where I purchased something or when my mother gave me something. She was an Antique Dealer! And I grew up in a house built in 1836 which is now a museum.
Tamera Alexander says
What?? I love knowing that about you, Paula. A house builtin 1836. How cool. And your mom was an antique dealer. I bet she was fun to go antiquing with. : ) Thanks for sharing!

Deb certainly made the most of your money. Maybe you should send her to Vegas??!! Ha. Lovely treasures. I have a wooden ruler by my desk. I use it SO often when I’m shopping on-line and need to check measurements. And, “laughing all the way.” Pretty sure that sums up your times with Deb!!
Deborah Raney says
That is EXACTLY why the plate appealed to me, Roxy! Tammy and I have shared lots of laughter. (I could have bought the same plate for you, too, my friend!)
Roxanne Henke says
Well, if you find another one I’ll send you the nickel. (Wink)
Tamera Alexander says
LOL!
Tamera Alexander says
LOL on Vegas. I would pay good money to see Deb Raney in Vegas! : ) And yes to laughing all the way. I know y’all have a fabulous time together too. It’s hard to have a “bad” time with that Raney woman. Hugs to you, friend.

What great finds! I love going to garage sales and have for many years. I don’t have the knack for turning trash to treasure that Deb has, though. It’s just fun to browse and see what’s out there.
Tamera Alexander says
I agree. You can tell a lot about someone from their garage sale items. Just sayin’… : )
Patti Jo Moore says
What a fun post, and what special treasures Deb found for you, Tammy!
I haven’t been to a garage sale in ages…but have a feeling that I’d likely come home with a “live” item (specifically–something furry that purrs, LOL). 😉
Hugs, Patti Jo
Tamera Alexander says
LOL, Patti Jo! You and Deb and your kitten lovin’ hearts. But the real question… Would you buy earrings? 🙂
Patti Jo Moore says
LOL, Tammy!! Definitely earrings—especially if I was headed to a writers’ conference! 😉
Susan Snodgrass says
I do have some antique hankies of my mama’s. I carry two in my purse all the time. I have a great story about Deb abd her yard sales from which I benefited. It’s precious.
Deborah Raney says
Awww! I remember and love that story. 🙂
Tamera Alexander says
Dish on Deb whenever you want, Susan! ; ) I love that you carry those hankies from your mom. Precious. Hugs to you, friend.
