Yesterday was my birthday. One of those major milestone birthdays. Not sweet sixteen. A little older than twenty-one. Beyond the Big 4-0. You figure it out.

19__ (cough, cough)
As I stared in the mirror Tuesday morning, I wondered how it was that my mom was so old at this same age while I am so young. I wish she were alive so we could laugh about that together. But I imagine she’s going to look at me when I get to heaven and say, “I told you so.” Because she did. She warned me how quickly it would all go by.

2016
One of my daughters and her husband are both battling cancer at present. Both are scheduled for surgeries in June. And yes, of course, I covet your prayers for them.
Health issues (our own or for those we love) tend to remind us how fragile and how short our time on earth is. Too often we forget to embrace life, to take full enjoyment in it and from it. God created us for eternity, and while this world is fallen and broken and not everything it was meant to be (and will one day be again), we should still live life on this earth for all we are worth.
Cuddle those babies.
Hug our parents and children and grandchildren if we have them.
Kiss our spouses if we have them.
Laugh and cry with our friends.
Be silly. Be bold.
Pray audacious prayers.
Embrace life.
That’s my own bit of post-birthday wisdom for each and every one of us.

Happy birthday, Robin! It is amazing how time flies, but I don’t get older. Praying for your daughter and her husband!
Thanks, Cara. The shock for me was when both my daughters became older than I “think” I am. LOL!
Robin,
My heart and prayers go out to you and your dear family. I have heard the “C” word more than once in my family but with the help of the Lord and the prayers of friends and family we made it through.
My Mother loved to say, “I told you so”. I just wish I could hear her say it again.
I will remember you all each and everyday.
Thanks so much, Janet.
Happy Belated Birthday Robin!! I so know what your talking about the years passing and still feeling young. Where did the time go. I’m a mere 72 years young. I’m praying for you and your family.
Thanks, Jody!
