Extremes (and a prayer request)

January 22, 2018 By Deborah Raney

So, last week my husband and I spent the better part of an entire week either in bed sleeping or shivering by the fire under a blanket. Sadly, we had that awful 2018 flu that’s making the rounds. I know a lot of you have had it too, and it is NO FUN! After sleeping, literally 90 out of 96 hours at one point, we started to feel like we might be back in the land of the living. It’s been a slow climb back, and I wouldn’t say we’re 100 percent yet (though thankfully, we’re not contagious any more).

However, ready or not, by the time you read this, we will be in Seattle babysitting Trouble #1, Trouble #2, and Trouble #3. These three sweeties are really no trouble at all, but they are bundles of energy, something we’ve had in very short supply recently. So, wow, would we ever appreciate your prayers that we can keep up with these three dynamos and give our son and his wife a well-deserved break (even though it’s a business trip they’re going on, and not all fun and games.)

Our daughter-in-law has everything so well-organized for us—including meals prepared ahead!—that I don’t know how we could fail! It’s such a treat to get to see these kids so soon after having them at our house for Christmas. A real blessing! And I have a feeling they’re going to be just the medicine we need to get completely revived again!

I hope you all manage to avoid catching this flu, and if you’ve had it, take care of yourself! And prayers for a quick and full recovery!

“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” Proverbs 17:22a

    Lovely babies!!!

You have beautiful pillows on the sofa. I sewed five patchwork pillows for my mother before Christmas ( from old brocade coat and flower motif fabric ). It was funny work, but unfortunately my mother found it just before I wrapped the presents to Christmas paper. I had really bad luck 🙂

    I am glad you’re better!

Thanks, Blanka. Except for the large greenish pillows, which came with the sofa, the rest are garage sale finds. The pillows you sewed sound beautiful! I’m sure your mother appreciated them even if the surprise was spoiled. 🙂
