I’m delighted to introduce you to Kelly D. Scott! I’ve been meeting with a small group of writers here in Dallas for years and Kelly has been a member of that circle since the beginning. Fall is my favorite season and so I think it’s wonderful that she’s joined forces with several other authors to release a FREE ebook collection of romantic fall stories. Be sure to grab a copy of the collection and leave a comment on this post so you’ll be entered to win the Starbucks card. Happy fall, y’all! -Becky
I was recently invited to be part of an autumn themed short story collection along with fellow writers Hayley Elliott, Jessica Kate, Kimberly Duffy, Ashley Clark and Kristi Ann Hunter.
Each of us contributed a story and when we took a moment to read each other’s work, I realized that fall means something different to each of us.
Here’s what each of us had to say about fall where we live:
“Fall looks like not walking outside into a sweltering mess. It’s being able to open a window and not have to get in your walk before ten a.m.” – Kristi Ann Hunter in Georgia
“Fall is usually still pretty hot, but we like to pretend the weather is cooler through autumn decorations and fall festivals.” – Ashley Clark in Florida
“Fall is my favorite season! Usually by October it’s cool enough to need a jacket. We go apple picking and to the pumpkin patch. I make a ton of spice cakes and soups and ginger cookies. We try to go to Hocking Hills at least once while the leaves are at their prettiest.” – Kim Duffy in Ohio
“Aussies don’t tend to celebrate changing seasons the way Americans seem to so that’s something I really enjoy when I visit! We have a few trees change leaves and that’s about it, but there’s one street in town where the colors are quite bright so I like to make the drive down there at least once every April which is when the leaves are changing.” – Jessica Kate in Queensland, Australia
“Fall can be anywhere from freezing temps with ice on the trees or seventy degrees and sunny. And it all can happen within the span of two days. Our weather is so temperamental, but on the average it tends to be in the fifties to seventies with colorful leaves for about two weeks before they fall. We have several pumpkin patches in town hosted by farms or various churches and festivals with family games and activities. Most people decorate inside and out with fall or Halloween themes. We love taking family walks through the neighborhood counting all of the pumpkins. As a family we drink lots of apple cider and make snickerdoodle cookies or pumpkin bread/muffins/pancakes.” Hayley Elliott in Oklahoma
“I feel like we only get two weeks of true fall weather in Texas since the summer temps don’t break until late October. As a family, we love going to pumpkin patches and sitting outside when it’s cooler. Nothing says fall like a watching a Sunday afternoon game of football, chili simmering on the stove, and a cozy blanket to snuggle up in on the couch.” Kelly D. Scott in Texas
In honor of fall and the release of our short story collection, I invite you to enjoy Autumn Kisses. CLICK HERE to access your copy!

Here in Missouri, we are blessed to enjoy all 4 seasons. Autumn here is when the leaves change color before falling off the trees, the fall foliage and flowers bloom in all their glorious colors, the temps cool down in preparation for winter, and people bring out their fall decor. God has definitely given His creation beauty to enjoy while here.
Kelly Scott says
That sounds amazing!
Colleen says
Living in outside of Houston, TX, we don’t see much in the way of fall color but I love how the angle of the sun feels in the autumn; I don’t know what it is but I just feel a lift in my spirits just knowing that cooler weather is coming after a Texas summer!
Kelly Scott says
Yes. I’m near Dallas so I’m glad it’s no longer in the 90s.
Tamera Alexander says
Welcome, Kelly! Great quotes on fall, which is my favorite season! Cool is in definitely in the air here in Nashville and it’s absolutely fabulous. I already have fall simmering spices on the stove. Love the cover of your new collection too. Thanks for guest blogging with us today.

I’m so excited to read this collection! Here in North Texas, we crave cooler temps and the smell of wood burning in fireplaces! Our leaves change colors by November, and it’s a beautiful sight. But to me, the most cherished fall event is high school football with its sights and sounds—-blaring bands, colorful homecoming mums, and the roar of fans huddled in the stands under the Friday night lights!
Kelly Scott says
Yay for Friday night lights!
Bev C. says
Fall here in the deep south is still warm with nights cooling off a little. The leaves are just beginning to start changing colors. It will be the end of October into November before they even start to fall. There are usually mums and pumpkins galore on porches and entryways. I love it! I do love an occasional pumpkin spice latte, but good ole coffee with cream is my go to! Happy Fall and thanks for doing a giveaway!!
Kelly Scott says
Yes our fall here starts late too in Texas.
Kathleen J Pollard says
Fall is fabulous in southern Kentucky. The cornfields have been cut down and left in their golden yellow glory. The trees are a myriad of red, orange, and yellow. And the pumpkins are displayed on friendly front porches!
Kelly Scott says
I should have asked for a picture of this for the blog.
Angela Bascue says
Fall? Fall hasn’t really arrived in Oklahoma Yet. It’s slightly less hot, but not by much. My favorite Fall activity is watching football.
Kelly Scott says
Same!

The temperatures have started cooling down with much needed rain. I love making soups and pumpkin and apple desserts. Here in Ohio.
Kelly Scott says
I just bought apples to make an apple crisp and I’m eyeing a pumpkin muffin recipe. I love fall baking.

This looks like a fun collection. What a fabulous group of authors! Fall is definitely my favorite season. I love the crisp air, sweater weather, and pumpkin-spice everything! But the absolute best is God’s stunning display of color. He truly is a masterful designer!

A Starbucks location opened within walking distance of our house earlier this year, dangerous for my budget!

Starbucks seems to give out frequent coupons in their app – fyi! Maybe it won’t be too dangerous that way!

Fall is my favorite!! I live in WA state, the dry side, and we have all four seasons. My pumpkins are ready to pick, the corn has already been eaten by red-winged blackbirds, the temps are dropping, and soon the leaves will do the same. Ahhhh. LOVE it!
Kelly Scott says
Sounds amazing!
Jennnifer Huppert says
Right now it’s raining and cold. My favorite fall activities are drinking pumpkin cold brews curled up by the fireplace reading or watching a movie.
Kelly Scott says
Sounds great!

We are in the hot today and cool tomorrow stage in Colorado.
I love taking walks during the day whenever I can rather than waiting for an evening cool down and sitting on the patio any time during daylight.
Kelly Scott says
Any place outdoors in Colorado is a win!
Jessica says
Fall is gorgeous here. The leaves change and make glorious colorful quilts on the bluffs. The temperatures drop into nice cool and crisp days with brilliant sunshine. I love to take walks through the leaves to see the pretty trees, usually cozy in a hoodie and jeans. Picking apples and pumpkins are fun, too. Baking and cooking all feel more fun when the weather is not so hot.
Kelly Scott says
I wish I could pick apples here in Texas!
Ellaina Ruse says
Fall in Michigan is full of color, fresh air, and crisp dewy mornings! I love celebrating fall by wearing flannels, sipping tea or coffee, baking, admiring God’s beautiful creation, reading a good book, cozying up by a fireplace, carving pumpkins, and apple picking, down town & shop strolling, and spending time with family!
Kelly Scott says
Outdoor shopping sounds fun!
Heidi Robbins says

Kelly Scott says
Yay!

I live in the Pacific Northwest, where Fall looks like it is depicted in all the movies. Changing of leaves, cooling temperatures, crisp mornings, and bright cloudless skies. We average from about 50-70 degrees most days with some “fun” wind storms that pop up. We had a storm two days ago with 60-mile-an-hour gusts, dust so thick the emergency broadcast blared on all our devices telling people to get off the roads, and driving rain followed to settle all the dust. Very exciting! I love curling up on a comfy chair and reading with a cup of hot cider in the fall.
Autumn Kisses is amazing! I just finished reading it, and it is definitely one of my favorite short story collections. Well done!
Kelly Scott says
Thanks for reading!!
Sandi Pascarelli says

I live in Arkansas and sometimes fall doesn’t last quite as long as I would like but we still can have some beautiful trees especially in certain places, and we have a lot of good parks and walking trails that are especially nice in the fall.
I love the colors, as well as the cooler temps that make me want to curl up with a good book, amazingly soft blanket, and cup of tea!
Thank you for the giveaway opportunity and the heads up about the free book. Sounds lovely!

Fall in Michigan is wonderful. Falling leaves, sweaters, cider, donuts , bonfires on cool night. But my favorite is sitting on the sofa under a blanket reading a book. 🍁🍂🍁
Kelly Scott says
I saw a recipe for apple cider donuts that sounded so good! It’s a two for one fall win!
Ruby Edwards says
Fall is a beautiful season in South Central Kentucky. The grass is just now beginning to change a bit in color and the trees will soon be vibrant yellow, orange, and red. I live in the country and enjoy seeing the changing colors in the trees and in the crops of hay, corn, and soybeans. There are Fall Festivals at the schools and it seems that every town has a fall event in the town square.
Barbara Szyszkiewicz says
We do get autumn color here in southern NJ but it’s not going to peak for almost a month. I love the afternoon light in the fall and how it turns the trees golden.
Kara says

Our weather here in Mississippi was pretty much still summer until the rain and wind off of Hurricane Helene came today. It’s a lot cooler now than before. We have a few leaves falling and a few turning yellow. I love late fall and the cooler weather except for having all the leaves in the yard. My husband passed away 3 years ago so now my son in laws have to get the leaves up. If you know how that goes you have to wait till they have time because they have yards and family to take care of. I’m really thankful I have our daughters and sons in laws.
Kelly Scott says
So glad they’re helping you out!
Paula Shreckhise says
I live in mid Missouri. It was in the 70s for the past week but will be in the 80s next week. It has been raining and the trees are beginning to change color and drop their leaves.
I don’t do much traveling or events. I like to read and sew.

Fall is my favorite season. The leaves change, the teacher in me buys new pencils, pens, and notebooks, and sometimes we even get a cool morning or two. I like to dress in sweaters and jeans and pretend the temperature is in the sixties. Just turn up the AC and go with it!
Kelly Scott says
I’m a colored pen junkie!
