Sometimes when I read, I have fun matching the book to the season or activities I’m involved in. I read Christmas stories in December and romantic stories in honor of Valentine’s Day. OK – I read romantic stories all year ’round, but particularly in February. Sometimes I’ll match a book to a trip I’m taking or a craft project I’m working on.
In my Posse, we are matching the time of year with our reading challenge for this month by reading a book where the hero or heroine is a teacher. There are so many great books to choose from, it’s been fun to see all the different titles being mentioned in the group.
If you are interested in reading a book that meets the back-to-school theme, there is a giant giveaway going on right now that will give you a wonderful opportunity to stock up on some great reads. One winner will receive 52 books! Several of these titles have a tie-in to teaching or school with characters and/or setting. And who doesn’t love a chance to win autographed books?
I combined some of our promo graphics in the collage below to show about half of the titles being given away.

Yes, I have been trying to match my reading to seasons for the past, maybe 8 years, starting with Christmas reading, then going on to other seasons – summer books, mysteries in the fall, and yes more romance in February. My favorite genre is historical fiction, then mystery. I love it when they come together, and also have some romance involved.
I have really been enjoying the Posse since its inception, because it gets me to search through my TBR pile. I’m thinking I will read a book from my Irish Country Doctor series for this month, because a character who has become more prevalent is a teacher, and the book I read next in that series features her and her husband doctor.

This makes my heart so happy, Betty! The Posse reading challenges have been good for me, too. They help me get excited about searching for my next read and hold me accountable to finish at least one book each month. That sounds like it would be so easy for a book lover, but between the day job, writing, and family responsibilities, finding time to read for pleasure is often difficult. I’m glad to have an excuse that helps me prioritize it again. 🙂

Yes, I definitely love reading books that reflect the current season! I always pretty much read nothing but Christmas/winter themed things from Thanksgiving through January. I always try to do a Christmas/advent devotional along with whatever else I’m reading in the Bible & also read as many Christmas novels or novellas as I can fit in! I also like doing it in the fall & around Valentine’s Day.b Fall & winter are by far my favorite seasons & so reading things that go along with those seasons enhance that time for me! 😀
Your posse sounds fun. I’m trying to think off the top of my head a book about a teacher. The first that comes to mind is the later books of the Anne of Green Gables series.

I adore the Anne of Green Gables series! That would be an excellent choice.
