Girls Night Out at the Symphony

May 3, 2022 By Tamera Alexander

For months, our family has had tickets to The Music of John Williams at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center featuring the Nashville symphony. And this past Sunday night was the night!

Except the boys got sick. So it turned into a girl’s night out!

Kellie, moi, Kelsey, Rachael, and Caroline

The Schermerhorn is a lovely building with, as you would guess, fabulous acoustics!

If you think you’ve never heard any of John Williams’s music, think again! If you’ve seen any of the following movies, you’ve heard John’s amazing talent—

Star Wars
Harry Potter
Jaws
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Memoirs of a Geisha
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
and the list goes on…

Listen to samples of soundtracks played that evening

It was such a fun night. Seeing these pieces performed live—watching the musicians as they worked together to create such beauty—was a real treat. Talk about a talented lot.

What’s the last “Girl Time” you’ve shared with the women in your life? And what about the Symphony? Attended lately?

Lastly, the boys in our family (husband Joe and son Kurt) are on the mend! So all is well.

I often listen to John Wiliams’s soundtracks while I write. Gorgeous music and so cool to hear it live. In that gorgeous hall! My last girl time was with my Club Deb friends (4 of the 6 of us are named Deb) in Kansas but we actually invited our hubbies to hang out with us too this time.

John Williams’ music is great! My family went to a concert years ago where they played his music. I like his “Phantom of the Opera”music. My last girls’ outing was this past weekend with my daughter to celebrate her birthday with a high tea. We went to the Swan House Tea Room in Findlay, Ohio.

I have several J. Williams’ soundtracks–love them. And did I tell you that I got a filament Bible for my hubby? Took him a while to figure it out (he’s not very techy), but by George, I think he’s got it now!
