I love, love playing trivia games. So…
I’m going to list some quotes from movies, and let’s see if you can guess them. The answers are below, but don’t peek!
Keep track of how many you get right and then let me know in the comments!
Ready?
Here goes:
Movie #1:
“So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day.”
Movie #2:
“I love you. You’re my only reason to stay alive… if that’s what I am.”
Movie #3:
“Listen to me, mister. You’re my knight in shining armor. Don’t you forget it.”
Movie #4:
“Don’t forget I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her.”
Movie #5:
“No, I don’t think I will kiss you, although you need kissing, badly. That’s what’s wrong with you. You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.”
Movie #6:
“As you wish.”
Movie #7:
“I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
Movie #8:
“My heart is, and always will be, yours.”
So, how’d you do?
What makes a quote so memorable, do you think? Or a piece of narrative—”For who could ever learn to love…a beast”—so vivid in our memory?
When I read a novel, I tend to underline sections much like a textbook. Because I want to be able to go back to those scenes and experience those emotions again. It’s the same reason we watch a movie we’ve already seen over and over again.
What movie or novel do you find “quotable?” Perhaps it’s a scene you remember or a section of dialogue from the book.
A novel quote for me is from A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers:
“Rather than remain a sealed jar, she sought only to pour herself out to others. Everything she did mirrored her faith. It was as though every waking hour of the day she was devoted to pleasing her God by serving others. This God that she worshiped consumed her. It didn’t ask for a brief visit to a temple, or a small votive offering of food or coin, or a few prayers every now and then. This God wanted all of her.”
Now it’s your turn to share. Can’t wait to see how many of the movie quotes you knew!
Blessings on your Tuesday,
Tamera
ANSWERS to movie quotes:
#1 The Notebook (This is a love/hate movie for me <g>)
#2 Twilight (Yes, I read the books and watched the movies. Sue me.)
#3 On Golden Pond (Such a great movie. #Henry&HepburnRockedIt)
#4 Notting Hill (Love the final scene on the park bench, and the song that’s playing. Sigh…)
#5 Gone With the Wind (Don’t particularly like this movie? Frankly, my dear… Well, you know.)
#6 The Princess Bride (Such. A. Fabulous. Movie.)
#7 When Harry Met Sally (So many quotable lines from this flick. The main one? “I’ll have what she’s having.” LOL. So good!)
#8 Sense and Sensibility (You knew I’d put this movie on the list, right? I’ve watched this countless times; Kelsey and I can practically quote the whole script)

Your movie quotes were great! It was fun to see if I could remember any of them.
Another favorite, ” Life is like a box of chocolates…” And “Ditto!”
Tamera Alexander says
Yes, Betty, that’s a great one. I love the Forest Gump Suite from the soundtrack of the movie. So beautiful. I listen to that often as I write. Thanks for playing today!
Jennifer says
I love that piece of music, too. I reminds me of Forrest’s unconditional love for others and how I could be more like that. What a fantastic movie.
Becky Wade says
I could match about half of the movie quotes with their movies. What fun! I love that you picked such romantic lines. I feel like I’ve had my daily shot of romance with my coffee. 🙂
Kandy Bennett says
I love movies, too. It’s the next best thing to reading a book with those you love or listening to an audio book with your family. I only got 2 correct, and yes, one of them was Twilight!
Tamera Alexander says
LOL, Kandy. Love it! Way to own it! 😉
Mocha with Linda says
I’m probably the only person on the planet who hasn’t seen The Princess Bride. Can we still be friends? LOL
If you’d put “I’ll have what she’s having” I would have definitely known that one. I blanked on a lot of these. So hard to just read them out of context. But if there had been a quote from You’ve Got Mail, Sound of Music, or Fiddler on the Roof, I would have definitely known those! 🙂
Tamera Alexander says
“One hundred and fifty-two people who think he looks like a Clark *Bar*.” Love it! Thanks for playing, Ms. Attaway. But really, please watch The Princess Bride before December 31, 2015 or our friendship might have to be put on probation.
: )
Shirley Chapel says
I got 4 and 5 right. I don’t watch a lot of movies. My husband loves movies. I’m more apt to sit down with a good book.
Elizabeth Ludwig says
This made me want to watch a really good romance…or read a really romantic book! 🙂
Carrie Schmidt says
I got the last 5 right! yay me lol! Sense & Sensibility is one of my very faves. I also love quoting The Princess Bride (of course – I mean, who doesn’t??) and While You Were Sleeping.
“Have you ever been so alone you spend the night confusing a man in a coma?”
And another favorite line from a movie is the very last line of Ever After – “And, while Cinderella and her prince did live happily ever after, the point, gentlemen, is that they lived.” 🙂
Tamera Alexander says
Oh love that quote from Ever After. I can hear her gravely voice even now. Thanks, Carrie!
Cara Putman says
Love Notting Hill. That ending scene is so swoon worthy.
Becky Lee says
Didn’t know any of the quotes. Guess I need to watch some movies other than Disney or Hallmark.
