Hello. I can’t believe it’s November! My summer and early fall went so fast! I just finished working on a book yesterday, over a month ahead of schedule. But I’ll tweak it a bit more before I turn it in later. It’s always a good feeling to finish a project early. Especially when you start with a blank page and create it with a lot of sweat and tears and joys and cheers.
The End
Yes, I did a happy dance. But I’m glad I finished early. Now I can work on other projects and stay ahead of my deadlines. Which means I’ll have a little breathing room during the holidays. Starting this weekend when we will host the LSU/Alabama game. This is a big rivalry all around the South. We are LSU fans and our guests are Alabama fans (by way of Michigan!) It will be nice to NOT work at all and have fun watching the game and aggravating the Alabama bunch. Win or lose, that’s a winning combination. Our menu will be appetizers (cheese dip with purple chips), gumbo to represent LSU, salad with mixed greens and purple cabbage, and bread. For dessert, I’m making red velvet punch bowl cake (to show Alabama how the Tigers can shred them–we hope!) and Tiger Butter to show how much we enjoy LSU football. Here is a link to the Tiger Butter recipe:
I’ll make the cake from a red velvet recipe and then break it into bits and pour cream cheese icing over it in a big bowl with red stripes. Chunky and good!

So I’ve ENDED a full book and now I’m beginning a fun time of cooking for friends to not only kick off a football game but also the upcoming holiday season. Have you finished something lately, only to move on to something else? Any big projects in your future?
Tell us about it! And do you love football or do you tolerate football so you can get together with friends?

Around here we cheer for the Baylor Bears and the Dallas Cowboys. I enjoy watching football now and then (though I’d usually rather be spending my weekend down time reading) but I DO love football food. Your menu sounds awesome!

Thanks, Becky. I have been known to read during a game. But my Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints always surprise me!!
We are familiar with Dallas and Baylor fans, having lived in northwest Louisiana for many years!

As a die-hard Alabama fan and alumni, I take offense to the red velvet cake(although it looks delicious!)! Just kidding. It’s great that even though we are rivals, we can still be friendly with one another. In my office, there is one die-hard LSU fan among the many Alabama and few Auburn fans, and we all work together well.

Stacey, I’m so glad to hear that. No brawls but good sports. Last year, Alabama won. We are hoping for a better outcome this year! But yes, people take their football seriously around these parts 🙂

Hubby enjoys college football. I enjoy ice hockey. GO Washington Capitals! 🙂

Hockey? We actually had a hockey team in Shreveport. The Mudbugs. But they had to move on since attendance dropped. We attended a couple of games. Very intense but fun! Thanks for stopping by, Melissa 🙂

Congratulations on finishing your book!! We are HUGE football fans. I live for free Saturdays so I can cook all kinds of fattening game day food. Of course, in our family it’s all University of Michigan, all the time. #Go Blue!
