Wishing a very happy Valentine’s Day to all our wonderful readers of Inspired by Life…and Fiction.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, and to celebrate, I’d love to send one of our readers these two journals from Raney Day Press. To be entered for the drawing, simply leave a comment on this post. I’ll name a winner tomorrow morning here on this post.

Deborah Raney

DEBORAH RANEY's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title and launched Deb’s writing career. Forty books later, she's still creating stories that touch hearts and lives. Her novels have won RWA's RITA Award, the ACFW Carol Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the HOLT Medallion. She is also a three-time Christy Award finalist. Deb is on faculty for several national writers’ conferences and served on the executive board of the 2,500-member American Christian Fiction Writers organization for 18 years before retiring in 2022. She is a recent transplant to Missouri, having moved with her husband, Ken Raney, from their native Kansas to be closer to kids and grandkids. They love road trips, e-biking, Friday garage sale dates, and breakfast on the screened porch overlooking their wooded backyard.

  1. Happy Valentine’s Day to you.
    This year the holiday is special to me because my sweet husband proposed to me 50 yrs ago on the 13th. It is a cherished memory because he moved on to heaven 3 yrs ago.

    • I don’t usually reply to comments on giveaway posts, but I can’t not comment on this, Shirley! Such a sweet memory, and so precious to have the hope of Heaven when you’ve lost someone you treasure so! Thank you for sharing this special anniversary.

    • Happy Valentine’s Day. Thankful to Denise Hunter for bringing this site to my attention. I use journals to write scriptures that have special meaning to me or scriptures that have been prayed over me. I also keep quotes and sayings that are encouraging. Blessings!

  2. Gratefulness is one of the best gateways to God’s heart. Journaling helps us be mindful of that. Grateful that He loves us deeply and passionately.

  4. I enjoy keeping Bible memory verses in journals along with what the verses mean to my life at the time. God is love! A great Valentine’s Day giveaway!❤ Unlike chocolates, His word lasts forever❤

  5. Gratitude is the key to happiness. If you, each day, have an attitude of gratitude, you can be satisfied with what you are given. A journal for recording reasons for gratitude for each day can be a source of inspiration for another day.
    So glad Deb had an idea for a journal and Ken helped created it

  6. We keep Valentines as a family day to celebrate our love for each other (hubby and I have anniversary for each other). Beautiful journals! ❤️

  7. Since we’re an older couple, every day we have together is special. Amongst our friends, many are having serious health issues or one of the couple has passed away. So my husband and I are treasuring every day together! He’s always been great at remembering special days, and this Valentine’s Day will be no exception.

  23. Remember how fun it was to get valentines in school? Several years ago I bought a package of valentines to send to old girlfriends, I mean, girlfriends I’ve held dear for a long time. I had left over cards so I prayed and asked the Lord who would like a Valentine in the mail. Each year now I wait for him to give me the names. It’s sooooo fun. Happy St. Valentine’s Day.

Its been a rough few years for me,,3 yrs ago on Valentines Day my husband told me he was filing for divorce,,we were already separated because I had found out he had been cheating on me,,,so I came back home to think,,1200 miles,,I was 63 yrs old and had never lived by myself before,,,it was a big ajustment ,and going thru a divorce,,then here comes Covid,,,,its took me 3 yrs but i finally have myself together ,still living alone,,but have my grandchildren over a lot

    • Vickie, I am so sorry for the sadness you’ve endured. I’m glad you came home, wherever that is, and especially thankful you have grandchildren to love on. I pray you are making new Valentines Day memories. Thanks for sharing your heart.

    • Vickie, I totally understand the heartbreak of divorce and feeling all alone. For me, it’s been 15 years that I have lived by myself yet I am not lonely – alone but not lonely. Sometimes we can be lonely while living with someone who fails to meet our innermost needs. God continues to lift me up as he is always faithful (Lam. 3:22-23). I now celebrate “Gal”entine’s Day by exchanging cards with other women who are alone.

  26. For years I kept a prayer journal. Recording prayers and answers. We had been through some very lean times. But looking back at how God answered has been a precious gift. Remembering how God provided a truck when we needed one. Money for a much needed trip.The pain of miscarriage. The passing of my mom. Prayers are answered. Sometimes with a “no.”

  30. Happy Valentines Day! I’ve been single for all my valentines days, but I have been so blessed as well. My dad makes sure that I always know I’m loved. Jesus is the best love anyone could want anyway. I have to embrace every season as it comes along…

  31. Our college age son bought us each a Valentine’s gift this year. It was so unexpected and so fun! Children are a blessing!I love the journals!

  49. Happy Valentine’s Day! I love this holiday now . . . but it wasn’t my friend during my husband’s military years. We spent so many of them apart! Now I’m waiting on him to walk through our door any minute! So grateful for his service, but I’m also glad that it’s complete!
