No, the Chicory Inn isn’t a real place, but after writing five novels set in the charming bed and breakfast run by the Whitman family (alas, they aren’t real either), the setting in fictional Langhorne, Missouri feels very, very real to me!

It’s been almost a year and a half now since the fifth and final book released, and I still think about the Whitman family often! In fact, Link, the youngest Whitman son, makes a cameo appearance in the first book of my Chandler Sisters Novels series, also set in Langhorne.

You can see the Whitman family as I envisioned them and many other scenes from my setting and research on my Chicory Inn Pinterest board.

The Chicory Inn novels are now available in trade paper, ebook, audio, and large-print hardcover (shown below).

They are also available in Dutch language editions (shown below), and in addition, the first three books will soon appear in a special book club offering. (More about that soon!)

It’s such fun having the books in so many different formats, and I’d like to give away a set of all five novels in their original print version to one of our faithful readers here on Inspired by Life…and Fiction.

Deborah Raney

DEBORAH RANEY's first novel, A Vow to Cherish, inspired the World Wide Pictures film of the same title and launched Deb’s writing career. Forty books later, she's still creating stories that touch hearts and lives. Her novels have won RWA's RITA Award, the ACFW Carol Award, the National Readers Choice Award, and the HOLT Medallion. She is also a three-time Christy Award finalist. Deb is on faculty for several national writers’ conferences and served on the executive board of the 2,500-member American Christian Fiction Writers organization for 18 years before retiring in 2022. She is a recent transplant to Missouri, having moved with her husband, Ken Raney, from their native Kansas to be closer to kids and grandkids. They love road trips, e-biking, Friday garage sale dates, and breakfast on the screened porch overlooking their wooded backyard.
