Novelists bound by the pen, sisterhood, & more

Here comes the bride. . .3 of them!

November 24, 2014 By Deborah Raney

I’m so excited to announce that my novella A January Bride, part of the “A Year of Brides” e-book series from HarperCollins, will finally release in print format tomorrow, along with A December Bride by Denise Hunter, and A February Bride by Betsy St. Amant in the brand new collection, Winter Brides.
WinterBridescover The most fun thing about this series has been the gorgeous covers for the books. And not just one cover for each author, but three! First, each of the twelve authors got their own beautiful cover for their month. Here’s my cover for A January Bride.A-January-Bride-672x1024

Next, we’ll each have our novella included in a seasonal print collection like the one releasing tomorrow.

And finally, for those who wish to purchase a collection of all 12 e-book novellas, there is this beautiful e-book cover.

Have you ever seen so many beautiful book covers in one place? A Winter Bride will be featured on new-release tables at many Barnes & Noble stores across the country, as well as being featured on Sam’s Club book tables! In addition, the authors are doing some fun giveaways in the days to come. I’ll be sharing those opportunities on this blog in the “Events and Giveaways” tab, as well as on Facebook, my Facebook Readers Group, and on my own website. I’d love to connect with you any of those places!

I can’t thank you enough for the support of this series, and for the wonderful reviews on amazon.com, goodreads.com and other places you’ve shared. I hope our readers realize how very much we appreciate all you do to share the news of our books and to encourage us so greatly with your warm words! YOU are the reason we write!

Ken and I had an August wedding with navy blue and baby blue for our colors. What month did you get married? What were the colors of your wedding?

What beautiful covers Deb and congrats on the release of your latest book. We’re almost into the 25th but I’m sure we’ll have to wait a little longer for your books over here.:(

Deb, speaking of weddings, I now feel very nostalgic.:)

I was a December bride and my bridal outfit was a full length skirt and matching camisole in cream, while my 3/4 length coat also in cream with a touch of gold and matching stole, completed my outfit. I wore a headband of cream roses in my hair and my bouquet consisted of cream, pink and lilac roses with two very pretty shades of greenery interspersed through the bouquet.

My attendants (my two beautiful daughters) each wore a crimson dress and although the dresses were not identical, they chose a similar style which complemented each other beautifully.
Their bouquets consisted of crimson and pink roses and matching button holes for our sons.
My husband had a cream button hole…..likewise my pageboy… our eldest grandson(then aged six and now aged nineteen. Where do the years go?
We have had thirteen very happy years and looking forward to our Anniversary next month.:)

Thanks for giving me the opportunity, for my little bout of reminiscence, Deb.:)

Rosie, I loved hearing about your wedding! It sounds like it was beautiful, and especially your bridal outfit! Elegant!

The covers are beautiful!! I was an August bride as well, and our color was royal blue. It was actually a rather unusual color choice for the time.

Kym, my husband is the one who chose navy blue. I thought it was a CRAZY wedding color, but once we added baby blue as an accent, it really was quite striking. This was in the day of country everything, and my bridesmaids’ dresses were blue and white gingham check, with eyelet aprons, and they wore white, big-brimmined hats and carried bouquets of fabric flowers in blue polka dot and other prints. It really came out looking darling!

Oh — I’m thrilled to hear that they are putting out this series in print format. I’m not a big e-reading fan but have heard wonderful things about these novellas. The covers are gorgeous. I’m making an Amazon order this week and Winter Brides is going at the top of the list. Woot!

I know there are still a LOT of readers who prefer paper, so I’m delighted that HarperCollins is putting this out in print format, too! Thanks for your support of all the authors, Kav!

The books look very nice and sound interesting also.
I was married 45 years ago on August the 19th in 1969. It was a small church wedding and I wore white. The reception was held at the home of my new mother in law as I was from Canada and we were married in Fort Thomas Kentucky.
    Have a very wonderful Thanksgiving.
    Blessings
    Shirley

Our anniversary is August 11, and we celebrated 40 years this year, so you’re just about 5 years ahead of us, Shirley! You have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too!

Hi Deb! I got married in August, too, three years ago! The bridesmaid dresses were a very light green and we light pink flowers. Our wedding was a very simple affair because I’m a cheapskate and I hate to spend a lot of money! My wedding dress was only $99! (Brand new, at David’s Bridal!)

Glad to see the other August weddings described here!

I wouldn’t call that being a cheapskate! I’d call that being a very wise person! I’ve always said it’s a little crazy to spend SO much money for ONE day! Why not go as cheap as you can, and spend the money on more lasting things! Good for you!

Is the whole 12 novellas possibly coming out in a paperback? The three books sets if bought separately would be quite pricey. Amazon doesn’t have the complete ebook listed either.
I got married in August 33 years ago. I used teal and yellow.

Gail, here’s the link to the whole e-book collection: http://www.amazon.com/Year-Weddings-Twelve-Stories-Novella-ebook/dp/B00L0S6IDE/ref=la_B000APFUUA_1_34?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416872760&sr=1-34 It’s $29.99. But again, keep in mind that the collection makes up FOUR books. So getting 4 books for under $30 is still a pretty good deal.

The 12 novellas wouldn’t fit in one book, which is why they’re bringing them out as seasonal collections. Three novellas is the same length as one long novel, so as far as hours-worth-of-reading, you are still getting your money’s worth!

P.S. Teal and yellow sounds like a beautiful color combination!

Those ARE beautiful covers, Deb! I am super excited about the print releases, and will definitely be purchasing the Winter Bride collection (if not all of them!). 😉
I had a December wedding – – and it was the Christmas wedding of my dreams. 🙂 We married exactly one week before Christmas Day, and the church was filled with gorgeous poinsettias and a live tree (the church already had those in place, so we had a lovely setting before we even added the candles and more flowers).
My bridesmaids word cranberry-red gowns, and carried lit hurricane lanterns with greenery and red flowers around them (thankfully no one dropped their lantern, LOL). I wore the wedding gown my 2 older sisters had worn – – made by our precious Mama – – so that was very special. 🙂

That’s so neat that you and your sisters wore the same wedding gown! My mom sewed my gown too…and it was beautiful. I still have it, but I can’t fit into it, sadly. But my daughter wore it at a church wedding style show a few years ago. And she looked so beautiful!

I love that you had a Christmas wedding! And you can’t go wrong with Christmas decor! One of my dearest high school friends had a winter wedding and her gown had a drapey hood trimmed in white fur! It was just stunning!

I agree with you, Deb! The covers for these novellas are stunning. The cover for the Winter Brides print collection is one of my tip top favorites.

I was married in July. We had a mix of ivory and bright pastels as our wedding colors. 🙂

I don’t think I’ve ever said this publicly, but I have to go with Meg Moseley’s A MAY BRIDE cover as my “tip top” favorite. May is my birthday (and two of my kids’ birthdays) but that’s not even the reason. I just love those colors…kind of like your wedding colors, Becky.

My mom wore white, but like yours, Becky, her bridesmaids each wore a different bright pastel…yellow, pink, and blue.
