Yesterday I had the most fun mailing a box of autographed copies of The Targeted to my friends at Naughty Dog Books for inclusion in the special limited edition bookbox they have curated for The Targeted. I am so excited to get my box. If you haven’t ordered one and are interested in supporting me AND an indie bookstore, here’s a great chance to do that.
I’m struggling to believe that this book that’s so near and dear to my heart releases next Tuesday! Eep! My friend Rachel Hauck interviewed me on Book Talk so I could be the guest rather than the host. It’s a little awkward to interview yourself — LOL — but on this episode, we talk about why I believe this is one of the most important books I’ve written.
If you love tropes, here’s a peek into some of the tropes behind the story. One of my friends from work is reading Chloe’s story now, and it’s been fun getting updates on where she is in the book and what she thinks so far. It’s always fun — and scary — to learn what readers think.

As I type this, I’m scarfing down a Chick-Fil-A salad and getting ready to board a flight for my summer adventure with my students. That means my Kindle is loaded with books to read and I have a few Marvel movies downloaded on my phone just in case I get bored and lonely until my family can join me next week. What are you excited to read this summer? I have to tell you, I’m listening to Natalie Walter’s Spies, Lies and Alibies. I read it for endorsement in December and LOVED it, but the audiobook? Chef’s kiss! It is so good. I highly recommend this one if it isn’t on your reading list already.
I’d love to know what you are excited to read this summer!
