I pulled almost an all-nighter in order to get my revisions done and to my editor on Tuesday morning. I worked until 2:00 AM. Slept for a couple of hours. Then was back to work by 4:30 AM until I sent the document off via email at 9:05 AM.
My treat for getting it done? Spending an afternoon and evening at the Western Idaho Fair with my hubby, daughter, granddaughter, and her husband. And the major part of that time, we were in the grandstand for the Josh Turner concert.
What. A. Fantastic. Show. I’ve always loved his music. Swoon-worthy voice. But in person he is even better. And boy, was that place packed to overflowing. Major Josh Turner fans in this neck of the woods. He is good friends of our governor and was made an honorary Idahoan some years back.
I have loved the fair since I was a little girl. I used to go every day. I’ve outgrown that but not by much. Anyway, braindead from my revisions marathon, I give you pictures from our time at the fair on Tuesday. It was a breezy beautiful day with a high of only 81 degrees. I could not have asked for better.
On our way out of the fair, Jerry and I bought some new clip on sunglasses and a couple of orders of Tortatoes. What a way to end the night.

Used to go to the Ohio State Fair in Columbus Ohio every year. It was tradition. The things we found there! One year we bought a telescoping flag pole. We bought a steam floor mop. Queen bee honey, micro mess gutter covers that really did keep the pine needles out and so much more. But the years did go by fast. Too much walking for me now. My husband has a scooter. So we go to Ohio’s little state fair held in George Town Ohio the third week of September. I love the fairs too.

Jerry and I have bought our share of items from the Expo building over the years. Those cool cloths you get wet and they stay cool for hours, tied around your neck. Shoes. Clip on shades for our glasses. Etc.

I also forgot to mention that one year we also bought a hot tub at the fair. There sure I’d a lot there. I loved the expo shoes. Ohio State Fair has 2 exposure each year. One inside where it’s cool and air conditioned and one outside in a pavilion.

Wow! I haven’t been to the Kansas State Fair for YEARS, but you make me want to go! Ours is always in September so hopefully the weather is cooler. Thanks for bringing back so many good memories.

I did more than 10,000 steps at the fair yesterday, and despite some fair food, I lost half a pound. Now what could be better than that? We didn’t make it to any of the livestock events which I always enjoy. Maybe next year.

What a great family time! Family fun is good even when exhausted.😀
Our daughter was home during our fair as well and wanted to take her baby to see the fair this summer. This was all because of cherished memories of those long weeks showing at the fair as a child.
Thanks for the post.

Robin, I’m so glad that you enjoyed the Fair. You certainly deserve the time off with how hard you work!
Here in Western Australia, it isn’t called the State Fair, it is The Royal Show. I loved going to the Show as a kid. If I didn’t freak out in crowds like I do now, (I have panic attacks), I’d love to go a lot more often. The last time I went, friends and I looked at the crafts that had been entered for judging. Embroidery amongst other things. Some people are so talented! I have people telling me that I should be entering my own work, particularly my first cross stitch. It is 1 Corinthians 13 with a red rose border in a heart shape. It is pretty, I agree. I’m just a little shy about showing my work to the public I guess. We spent a lot of time down side show alley too and I loved it.
Back in New Zealand, where I was born, I worked at The Royal Show too. Down in sideshow alley.
A quick question. What are Tortatoes? We don’t get those here.
Other than the concert, what was your favourite part at the Fair?
