Join my family vicariously as (last night) we celebrated with Kurt and Kellie (our son and daughter-in-law—who we affectionately refer to as K2) as they announced—with a “light show”—that they’re having their second child, a little girl, in January ’24!
WARNING: There is much excitement, especially from younger cousins who had already had a lot of sugar. LOL Notice K2’s dogs, Malcolm & Rue, are wondering what on earth is happening!
We’re all excited and grateful that Leo (pictured below, 7 months) is going to have a baby sister. And scarcely 13 months older than he is. Hence, the “almost” Irish twins.
The women in the family share a text thread, and we’ve already started talking styles and clothes. Love it. Buying clothes for a grandson is fun, but buying for a girl is too. A different kind of fun! Ruffles and bows, here we come.
Other recent joys for me are:
- God’s living and breathing Word, always, always (can’t wait for BSF to start this fall—anyone else studying John in BSF?)
- Family (I feel so incredibly blessed; gracious, I love these people and cannot imagine life without them)
- Consolidating to one place again (we recently sold our lake house to be back in Nashville full time, and while I really enjoyed life there, I’m thrilled to be on a path to being more “settled and in one place,” especially with our grandchildren here. Though I cannot say “moving” is a blessing. LOL Nearly killed me!)
- Friends (I just had lunch with three girlfriends today and their laughter and love, the fun we have together, is like water to a thirsty soul.)
- Writing (I love being back in my office full time; I am so much more productive at my desk, focused, and with the rest of the world silenced for long periods of time. I’ve tried other settings and methods, but this works best for me by far. So I’m going with it!)
So what’s a JOY that’s happened in your life lately? A blessing that either caught you unaware—or that perhaps quietly sneaked in—and spoke blessing to your heart?
Much love from my corner of Nashville,
Tammy

I could not be happier for you, dear friend! A boy and a girl. Just wonderful! I’m just 14 months older than my next-in-line sister. We had our moments as teenagers (haha!) but now she is one of my dearest friends!

I love that, Deb. I pray they’ll be close as well. 💙

Congratulations to all of you!
My sister is 11 months younger the me. There are great things about close siblings.

Thanks, Jen. Appreciate the encouraging words. We’re excited!

Congratulations!!
Irish twins are fun! I actually have a pair. They’re only 10.5 months apart, so they’re the same age for exactly 6 weeks.
My daughter loves it. Her older brother … not so much. 😉
But it’s sweet. For those 6 weeks, we refer to them as twins. She talks him into celebrating twin day with her the day before his birthday since it’s their last twin day.
They’re 12 and 13 now. Fun … but hard on a mother’s body! Lol I hardly remember their younger years. It doesn’t help that they were baby 3 and 4 so I had my hands full by then.

How fun, Anita! But gracious, how did you do it? 😉 I love how you described their relationship. 💜💙

Lol I have no idea how I handled it. Those years are a blur. But I love how close they are.

Congratulations to all! How wonderful! Two of my grands are ten months apart, and they are like peas in a pod. VERY close, boy and girl. You have much happiness in store!

This is SO exciting! A grandson followed closely by a granddaughter. How wonderful.
My sister had four children in four years. (The two in the middle are twins.) The benefit of having them so close together is that she’s raising them as a “set”. They’ve all been at a somewhat relatable stage all along. I have eight years between the oldest and youngest of my three. The youngest was never at a relatable stage to the other two. For example, the older two were in college last year and she was still in middle school. Ha!
