Hey friends, I’m writing from Atlanta. I drove down on Sunday to be with my sweet dad who’s been suffering from TIAs (mini-strokes) and other related issues. It’s so hard to see those you love hurting.
On Sunday when I arrived, he was not doing well at all, but what a difference the past 24 hours and YOUR PRAYERS have made! Thank you for offering prayers for his strength and healing.
The TIAs seem to have stopped (though, as many of you know, there’s really no way to stop them completely, they’re the body’s warning sign of blood clots), and his issues of dizziness, nausea, and splitting headaches are subsiding as well. He’s actually eating again and took three shorts walks yesterday. His balance and mobility are improving each time. He might be coming home today, we’ll see.
This pic is of him on Monday afternoon talking on the phone with a fellow retiree and former co-worker from Life of Georgia (where Dad worked for 36 years). I love that he still has these friendships in his life all these years later. Doesn’t he look great for what he’s been through in recent days?

I’ll likely head back to Nashville today. Esta (Dad’s sweet wife) will take excellent care of him, I know. I have a first draft due next Friday and can hear the clock majorly ticking inside me. But I’m so grateful to have had this precious time with my dad. I’ve thanked my Heavenly Father repeatedly for giving me an earthly father who looks so much like him. It’s made such a difference in my faith walk to have had Godly parents. I’m so grateful.
I’m also grateful, friends, that (as Eleanor says in A Beauty So Rare) our together forever started here. I appreciate you!
Who in your life has been a reflection of God the father and of Jesus for you?
Tammy
Would you tweet this out for me? I’m grateful for your help in spreading the word.

I’ll keep on praying for your dad’s recovery. He looks quite dapper in that hospital bed. Unlike you I did not grow up in a faith-filled home so my experiences of Christ-like examples were few and far between. Now I have so many wonderful examples of people who reflect God’s love back to me. That includes all the wonderful Christian authors who allow their light to shine so that I might glorify God. Every book I read brings me closer to the Savior and I’m so grateful for that.

Thanks for sharing, Kav. So glad we’re in this together!

So glad you got to spend some time with your dad, Tammy. And I’m even more thankful that he is improving. My father also played a huge role in my spiritual development. He was a godly man, and I admired him so much. He put family first, second only to God, and his love and faithfulness shaped me as well. He taught me the value of hard work, laughter, music, and math. I lost him far too early in life (he passed when I was 16), but memories of him linger vividly in my mind. I look forward to the day when I can hug his neck in heaven.

Oh, to lose your dad so young, Karen. I’m so sorry. And I look forward to meeting him (and hugging my mom’s neck again too) when we get Home.

It is wonderful that your father is feeling better. Praise God.
Father, I ask that You continue to guide the doctors’ hands and continue to place Your healing hands on Your child. I also ask that You continue to comfort those that love him.

Bless you, Dora, and thanks!

Thank you for taking time to share this post with us, sweet Tammy (AND the cute photos too!).
I’ve been praying—and will continue—for your precious Dad. I know he must be a wonderful, Godly man (and he
raised an amazing daughter too). 🙂
Both of my precious parents (now in Heaven) were such a big Christian influence in my life. They taught me not only by their words, but by their actions. Both Mama and Daddy had servants’ hearts, and that’s what I strive for in my life.
I’m also praying for you during this time, Tammy. You’re so right—it’s very hard seeing loved ones hurting. So I’m praying for you to feel comfort and strength, and have safe travels back to Nashville. And as always, I continue praying for your writing too–that the words will flow and your writing time will be pleasant and productive.
Gentle hugs and love, Patti Jo

As I’m now in my senior years, I’ve had numerous godly Christian influences in my life – including some wonderful Christian fiction authors. God has used them all to help make me who I am today and I’m SO blessed and grateful!!
Continued prayers for your writing, thanks for “shining His light” to all and blessing and inspiring with your wonderful books!! Love, hugs, and blessings to you, Tamera!!

Precious pictures of you and your dad. I lost my dad many years ago but my sweet 87 year old Mom points the way to Jesus daily. She is my inspiration! Glad you got to spend time with your dad, I just got back from spending time with my mom…she is Ark., I am in PA, passed right through Nashville! Will continue to pray for you as I’m reading Rekindled and that will help me to remember…Blessings, Linda

What a lovely read. Thank you for sharing. I do pray your father is home now and resting. You are blessed. My mother in law was definitely Jesus to me and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She exuded joy and unconditional love. She showed us how to live well. I know she heard the words “Well done” when she met the Savior. She left a legacy that I want to emulate. Many blessings to you.
